Just bought this, it's the picture from GunBroker, but it's mine nonetheless. I'm picking it up on tuesday. Only cost me $90

I figured the gun people would appreciate it.

I think we have an edged weapons thread somewhere

Doubt it. When there are zombies I will go out on a boat and wait for a few days, return to get supplies and go out on the boat again.

.22 will stop a zombie?

Yes, if .22lr can kill a human, it can kill a zombie. More people die from .22lr every year than any other round. It has plenty of stoppin powah to your brain

This has nothing to do with guns..but the cases from Sports Authority...Allen, scoped rifle cases..$9.99, made in the USA good quailty. For that price they can't be beat.

God damn it, I just bought one from Walmart for like $20. Oh well though, I really like it. That's a really great deal if it's the same one I got

Also, I ordered a VEPR in 7.62x39 and that comes on Thursday! I will be posting pics here, I cannot fucking wait to shoot it!

A man got shot while we were out there as well. He was about a mile behind us on the other side of the road.

Shit, how'd that happen? Ricochet?
I'm pretty much terrified of getting shot by all the idiot rednecks that go out there. I'll probably have to start going to a range soon. There are too many first time shooters out there more or less unsupervised, especially on holiday weekends when it's really crowded

that place is a fuckin mess!

Yeah right, you should see the desert around Las Vegas. Sloan Pit (where I shoot) has so much garbage it's absolutely disgusting. I will take pictures next time I go out.

People never pick up what they bring with. Targets, brass/steel casings, shotgun shells, couches, televisions, paint cans, glass bottles, plates, wood pallets... you name it.
We have volunteers go out with a full construction sized dumpster every couple of months and even when it's full, it doesn't look like anything has been cleaned.

Mauser made thousands of different rifles for just about every country, which are you talking about?

I own 2 nazi marked WWII 8x57 mm mauser K98 rifles, one commercial Mauser pre WWII .22LR and one pre WWII Chilean mauser in 7x57 mauser.

Was talking about a K98 specifically, or a RC surplus. I know there are tons of types but I don't know them all.

I sold a bunch of stuff recently and I'm trying to decide whether I want to build a cheap AR or buy a nice Mauser.

Did it have the bent bolt?

Probably not. To put rails on, people take the front iron sights off and replace it with an insert for a rail system.

There's a sale on a Savage rifle with the new AccuTrigger at Dick's Sporting Goods right now. It's about $550, bolt action chambered in 30-06 and it comes with Nikon optics already mounted. Synthetic stock, no fancy wood. :(
Worth buying?

EDIT: Changed the photo because the last one I took was shitty. The new round is on the right, the one on the left is what I normally shoot.

That sounds a bit like you got some over pressured rounds. That can cause the brass to crack and lead to bolt getting stuck. Usually the primer will back out of the pocket when they get too hot. Are they military surplus or handloads? Either that or it was a x51 instead of x54, which would cause nasty overpressure too.

They were labeled as 7.62x54r and they seem to be the same size, but they did look a little different than my normal rounds. I usually use rounds from my spam can of 440 rounds. This time I used a new pack of 20 "Russian Surplus" that I bought from a gun shop in Utah when I went to visit my brother last weekend.

The round on the left is the one I normally shoot. The one on the right is what I shot today when the bolt got stuck:
EDIT:

Changed the image to make it clearer

My Mosin-Nagant is acting up. :( I am really good about cleaning it every time I shoot, but today I only put two rounds through it and the bolt became completely stuck. When empty, the bolt seems to move smoothly, but when I want to eject the round I end up breaking every bone in my hand trying to open the damned thing. The casings are all cracked and split when ejected as well, is that the ammunition I'm using or is that my gun's fault?

Any tips on how I can make this smoother? I know that Mosins tend to get gummed up with all that corrosive primer, but I thought that regular cleaning would solve the problem.
