The Lounge / Re: EU Referendum
« on: February 21, 2016, 01:41:53 PM »
Basically what Liam said.

People are absolutely insane if they think Europe will be nice to us if we leave, our trading will go down the pan, migration will remain the same (except France may stop giving a fuck patrolling our borders), Scotland will leave (or somehow rejoin the EU), and we will end up having to pal up with the USA even more (i.e. suck up to them).

We aren't the superpower some people seem to think we are, we don't have as much clout as we used to, and cannot compete with other developing nations for producing goods. And we need to wind our necks in and stop acting like we are still in the colonial era.

1. Our return rate on cranks was never higher than 10% at the very most. The suggestion that ALL the first gen Wombolts were "made wrong" is ridiculous, there are still first gen cranks out there being used now and we will STILL warranty them if they ever do break because that's what "lifetime" warranty means.

2. We sell/sold a shit-ton of cranks, but have never needed to do a product recall.

My main reason for making this thread was to inform any owners of these cranks that they were being recalled by the manufacturer. And given that even the manufacturer isnt trying to defend the design it seems weird anyone on here unrelated to them would really be that arsed about trying to defend it...

:)
G.

Isn't 10% a high return rate? Obvs not recall levels but hardly a shining example.

I'm also dubious that the main reason you made the thread was concern for the owners of these cranks but if you say so.

Is that a good preggers, or a bad preggers? At least with twins you can get it all out of the way at once. Who in their right mind would want more than 2, honestly.

Good preggers (one would have been better but beggars can't be choosers), been doing IVF for the past year so i'm just glad that shit is finally over.

Congrats on that. One is pretty tough, so two is definitely going to be a struggle but will be worth it in the long run. My gf is a twin and she loves it.

My neighbour has been doing IVF and just found out she's having triplets......

Credit cards can be a good way to get short term low interest finance. After I racked up a silly amount of overdraft as a student I moved it onto an interest free credit card and pay it off monthly before the 0% offer runs out. We also use one to pay our car insurance as its cheaper to pay it in one go than on a monthly basis, and then just pay it off each month to the credit card.

In regards to the mortgage, definitely best to remortgage every few years and get a cheaper deal. We went through a broker with our first mortgage, £250 fee and he will remortgage our property for as long as we are in it now for no extra cost.

Only because Hank came in and used actual sentences to explain what the issue was.

Where does salmon fit into this and what scale are we using to compare the cost of oil with the cost of salmon?

"Currently salmon is worth more that crude oil"

What the fuck does that even mean? A barrel of salmon? One salmon is worth more than one crude oil? Will salmon power my petrol lawnmower? So many questions.

And then barrage of seemingly unrelated shit about forest fires. And no links or text walls.

Someone please give me some context. I live in a cottage in Kent, will using my chimney affect my petrol price and/or the salmon fishcake I ate yesterday?

There is a huge debate in the road bike industry over the optimal tire width and whether the current trend of pushing them narrower and narrower is correct.

The current trend is far from that, with professional riders mostly using a 25c tyre as opposed to the 22 and 23s that would of been more common a few years back, and non-racers opting for 28c and sometimes even 30c if it will fit, especially with the state of the roads where I live.

I'm sure the science has been proven now that the 25c provides better rolling resistance, and when roads are anything but perfectly smooth then the added cushioning and bump soaking of a wider tyre far offsets the minimal rolling resistance gains of a smaller one.

A chef I used to work with gave me the idea. He also suggested grating frozen poo into carpets or hiding fish carcasses inside computer speakers

Cover a plate in piss (the more dehydrated and smelly the better), and freeze it. Pop off the frozen piss disc and slide it under their front door when they go out. It will melt into their carpet and stink.

Repeat as necessary

27. Got a house and a kid and go to bed at 9pm.

Aye, we should hang out. Early though, like 6-6.30 type deal.

Or 5.30am.
