The Lounge / Re: Vapes?
« on: May 31, 2015, 10:35:40 AM »
My folks quit smoking by using vapes like two years ago. Now they just vape all the time, seems like trading one vice for another. I tried using one to quit and it worked, I just replaced my smoking with a vape and then slowly stopped using the vape until eventually I quit. Went from a carton a week to none in a month. Buuuuut I ended up picking up again.

I also can't handle going to car meets/shows and seeing "vape" contests....

why does no company offer metal pedals with a plastic grind plate? surely thell be the best of both worlds? endless smooth pedal grinds and the strength and grip of metal all in one hand little package?

Didn't someone sell those years ago?

Well apparently everything that everyone said happened there this year was misconstrued. Not sure if you've seen the stories or not yet that people have been posting.

I was running into this issue last night when buying my new wheelset, Last wheel set I bought I didn't have to worry about it since it was a set of primos, which the N4FL is probably one of the best hubs/hubguards I've ever ran in my life.

Ended up picking up a set of profile hubs with all profile guards, I really wish they were chromoly and I wish they made a rear hubguard that works with bolt on hubs and not just 14mm threaded axle ones :/
I ran a 3/8's axle on the back of a mini, along with their normal guard and a bsd one later on and they worked somehow.

Yeah what? They work fine on the female axles.

For someone reason I had a dumb moment and forgot that all the collars on the hubs were the same size. Meh, I'll end up switching to female in the rear later on anyways.

I remember my medical bills when I smashed my face into the concrete and broke my jaw, skull, knocked out a ton of teeth and broke my hand a few years ago at the part were up to something like $250k+ I got sent the bill because the hospital didn't understand me when I said my insurance policy number with tricare was my SSN. I kept giving them the number and they just thought I was confused because of the concussion.

Tricare is one of the biggest things from the military I will miss when I'm out next year.

Magazines are going away because print is dead.

I'd agree if all the other magazines were gone aswell, but I still see plenty of Skate, Surf, MTB, hell even snowboarding (in Florida of all places) mags all over the place!

The Bike Shop / Re: Brakes
« on: May 16, 2015, 08:40:52 AM »

Has the geometry of brakes stayed the same or has it changed to accommodate clearance for larger tires?

In my experience, brake arms have not changed in shape to accommodate larger tires. When I was building up my current frame I bought a brand new set of Evo IIs only to find out that there was absolutely zero chance that they would fit around my 2.25" tire. The set of Eclat arms that I had did the same thing. I ended up filing out the inside of some OG Fly arms and they've worked so far.

I think G has said that the Springfield arms have lots of clearance, and I think the Shadow Sano arms do as well.

Well damn, I wonder what the Max size is for EVO2s as I just bought two sets myself for my new build :/ Seems odd that the EVOs wouldn't be any bigger since the smallest size Odyssey offers in most of their tires is 2.2"

I think BMX already is somewhat dying off, with all the magazines going away its only a matter of time now, I don't think it will be as bad as a death that we had in the 90s though.

I was wondering about this, I'm here in Liverpool right now and saw a few buildings with a bunch of huge banners talking about losing welfare and all sorts of things. Reminds me of when I was in Scotland right after the vote about independence happened.

Reminds me of the kids we had come into the shop that would shave their bolts and axles/axlenuts down to save weight.

Finishing up my very last deployment this summer after being all over the black sea and med and coming back to the US to build up my new frame, literally bought the exact same frame again just a few sizes bigger.
