Not a fan of tatts but that's fairly tasteful, unobnoxious and for a good cause

Indeed, much less than doing one less cross

I heard it's a 52 inch print of Laz doing a bunnyhop. Obviously it's not big enough to actually have Laz in any part of the picture

No I am aware of what you;re on about, it just indeed does make for a shorter spoke (the opposite of cross lacing) which is the only 'advantage' (or disadvantage depending on preference) I can fathom

The only real advantage is shorter spoke length, which makes for a marginally stiffer wheel and a negligibly lighter one, neither of which I think is worth it (even though I do like rear wheels that are 48h 3x which is noticeably stiffer than 48h 4x and 36h 3x)

I saw heaps of 4pcs break in the 90's down there (being a HAZ and before post-welding heat treating) and likewise I've not witnessed it  personally in the modern 2pc era, but I have seen a couple cases of it in the scene in the last 5 years. Certainly not enough to infer an epidemic, hell not even enough to rule out freak occurrence :0

Good to see you BTW, how goes the bursitis? I ended up getting it in my shoulder but after a few cycles of cortisone injections it came good

Eclat abandoned long standing standards so they could increase handlebar strength in an area that handlebars never fail. Why?

I cbf finding out what you are referring to, but if they've increased clamping area diameter, their thinking might be to reduce torsion fatigue around there. At the cost of it being easier to crush the bars out of round...

Depends what's aggravating your knees. If it's the pressure of pushing on the pedal, then sure, longer cranks will help. Just as you guessed, cranks are a indeed a lever

I still find it hard to believe but it's been 25 years for me, a fair portion of it off but mostly on. Mostly.

my relationship with bikeguide is two years older than my marriage. 15 and 13 years, respectively.

I always thought you were newer, based on when you popped up on BMX-Forum trying to talk mechanical sense into ingrateful 13 year olds

Perhaps after 22 years the novelty of BMX to non-riders has worn off. Why learn to superman when you can fling a bit of aluminium around in a circle

The blade (wot u called lever) is the same except for the angle of the slit you slip the cable into. It works just fine. I have an M2 with mono blade and vice versa on the other brake

I'd stick to 3x. 36 4x feels like shit, too floppy. 48 3x is stiffer than normal. Occupying the middle is 48 4x and 36 3x

blue's anecdotal evidence might be a little appley orangey but I've gone from 48 to 36 more than once with the same products (and spoke size; 36 3x and 48 4x are the same length) and it's definitely more work.

It works though, it's just more maintenance and shorter rim life/more chance of a bad crash rooting the rim completely. There's good reasons we've moved to 36. But the impact of one third more spokes can't be negated just with skillful wheelbuilding or 4x on 36h, and you can hardly blame people for their appeal

The Bike Shop / Re: Keychain woes?
« on: April 19, 2016, 09:07:06 AM »
When I replace my current chain I'll see if my keychain is still longer than it

So, I bought a new Bluebird in readiness to replace my 510. The Bluebird at the same # of links is shorter than the 510. No surprise there. But the well-used 510 is shorter than the barely-used KeyChain I tried to rock. I'd like to send it back but I don't want to waste anyone's expense if this not a known issue. George, you have looked after me for the last decade when it comes to the odd part issue. I will not persue any warranty claim as you already spent your likely margins from me just on sorting me out. But you are most welcome to this particular specimen if you want me to send it to you
