The Bike Shop / What did you do to your bike today? (v2)
« on: May 09, 2012, 05:36:47 AM »
Not today, but about a week or so ago I was riding home from the skatepark late at night. Had my flashlight in one hand, and my helmet, and pads in my backpack. I get about half way home to the train tracks. I tighten my grip to avoid eating shit as I go over them. After bouncing over them without crashing, I loosen my grip and begin to shine the flashlight in front of me. The second I loosen my grip, my front wheel dives into Tucson's deepest pothole. Tight grip or not, I was going to end up on the ground. I fly OTB while rolling into the street, I was lucky that the traffic was stopped at the red light. Hit my head pretty good, and banged up my knees and shoulder. I stand up and look for my bike so it doesn't get run over. The fucking thing was still in the pothole like some cartoon shit. I pick the rocks out of my palms and ride the rest of the way home wishing I left my pads and helmet on. But the part that bothers me the most is the rip in my newest jeans.

Just picked the scab on my shoulder and thought I'd share.

I did it for a while. I broke a couple bolts(tightening them every time), and the center axle eventually.

Are tortoises good as a pet?

He was great. Just feed them and don't bother them while they hibernate. Also good idea to take them outside so they can get some sun.

And don't take your eye off of them when you do have them outside, they are faster then what they are made out to be.

Did some searching, and a few sources say 31.8mm rise on the Cult Salvation stem

I measured my 4pc Federal 20/20s. I thought the 4pc version of the 20/20 were only made in 8" rise? Mine came out to 8.25. My Tree Branches felt a little smaller with I switched them out. I hope I can cut them soon because I like how solid they felt.

And I'm still not sure if I should polish them, or keep the sparkles that was under the original paint.

Edit: I just noticed that I own 3 pairs of bars, and all 3 of they are badass and uncommon. Tree Branches, Federal 4pc 20/20s, and Seshin Chilkos. I love my little handlebar collection.

I forgot to say what I did with my bike today... Crammed it into the back of a taxi, listen to the driver rave about how perfect my welds are on the frame, and that the antifreeze green is "the most bitchin' green, goes perfect with the chrome and bare metal". Yanked it out of the taxi.
Rode home and bombed down a pretty large hill on a busy road under construction. I was nervous I was going to get run off the road and into a sign or something. But I then realized I needed to slow down because I am starting to pass the cars. As I was passing one car the guy yelled "I'm going 30, you're hauling ass". So I would say I was cooking pretty good in that crammed area.

Got a bunch of free tubes for it. The customer wanted to throw them away as they were punctured..

You need to flow them to bluee. He needs them more than anyone in the history of BMX... maybe even the history of tubed tires.

Blueee needs to figure out where his flats are coming from
He said he ran over glass and also had a Goathead in his front tire, he knows where they are coming from. I think he may need to be careful, I have almost the same tire set up as him(but a KHE street), I almost pay too much attention as what is on the ground in front of me.

bluee, Did the glass fuck up your Microknobby beyond repair? I ran over I stick with thorns the size of pencils on it with my Microknobby. I have a nice cut in my tire, but with a cardboard boot in it, the slit is no bigger than a popsicle stick. It has been going fine for a few months now and hasn't gotten any bigger.

^ Dude, that's fucking awesome! who else has raw sparkly bars? probably nobody.

I'm thinking about throwing them on. I just wish I had a way to trim them down a bit.

I stripped the paint off of my Fed 4pc bars. They were OxBlood red with sparkles. Now they are raw... with sparkles. The glitter or what ever the fuck didn't come off. Not sure if I like it, but I do think it's pretty funny.

Profile have just released one for their hubs. Sketchphoto has one in his bike check.

It looks pretty good too. Doesn't look like it will fold up after a couple grinds.
