The Bike Shop / looking for front tire similar to nmicroknobbie
« on: November 18, 2017, 11:45:37 AM »
hey, I run a 2.25 on a narrow front rim
1.95in the back ...skinny tires are faster, aye

well I amassed a bunch of microknobbies before they stopped production and my pile is slowly dwindling, can anyone recommend me a new front tire? I imagine another racing tire should do the job
2.25
,light/folding, I think mk was like 16oz
cheap? ya, goodluck.
I guess a very non-aggressive dirt-tire tread is what I want? my mind totally trust that snafu rim job pattern

suggestions?

The Bike Shop / frame flex on a 4.5lb frame
« on: November 18, 2017, 11:19:12 AM »

yeah I can feel this kink mud runner flex when I ride it. I do mostly park and some light street and the frame seems to hold up fine but God damn I can feel this flex, should I be worried? I let someone else ride it for like a minute and he was able to clearly notice the flex

is it okay?

.

I have had two previous 4.5lb frames, one lasted 6months, the next last 6years so...

hey, I am trying to keep the shell of my truck cool come summertime, I currently have a brown glossy fiberglass shell that keeps much cooler than the flat black campershell I had before. how hot do the aluminum campers shells become? if I pick up a flat black aluminum campers can I easily paint it flat white or shiny white?

do aluminum truck toppers get significantly hotter than fiberglas campers when left in the hot sun?

The Bike Shop / old man knees and crank arm length
« on: July 17, 2017, 12:50:02 AM »
sometimes I need to pedal a mile or two across town aand it sucks and hurts my knees. i got a smaller sprocket, skinnier/faster tires ....will longer crank arms also help out?

at5'8'' Ive always ran 175mm cranks, but should I now consider longer ones for more leverage??
...I have recently heard everyone ranting and raving about 170s and 165s

The Lounge / i smashed my face
« on: June 29, 2017, 05:06:17 PM »
i was drinking tequila at the skateark

i was death training this vertwall with some skaters and the guy in front kept doing some fucking spinnything where he would lose all his speed in front of us. fucker
and then i start hauling ass at it without pedaling, pushing at it like a fucking skateboard.
and then i went helllla high on the wall and came down a little short. i rode into the edge of that archway, tires hit the coping and i died onto my face
i wonder if i was sober would i have been able to ride it out

word is that now airlines are charging golfbags as oversized luggage?

ive always been able to fit my bmx bike under the 62in oversized dimension standard but it takes an hour or two to pack and then i usually have to repack it again cuase fuck man ..and even then i get to the airport and they try to charge me a bike fee and i have to argue its under oversized dimensions unlike a road/mtb

so i was finally gonna cave in and get a dk golfbag which IS oversized dimensions but airlines have always waived the fee for oversized golfbags ...but not anymore
dimensions of the dk golffbag are 51" + 15 1/4" + 12" = 78in
airline oversized dimensions are 62in

anyone ever get charged fees for their dk golfbag? is anyone currently, frequently using theirs with much success, no failures?

ive flown (and bus'd) numerous times with my bmx and many times i have ALMOST been charged an extra $100+ having my bmx with me

the Ruben alcatera Gian booter hip jump
I found a pile of dirt that was like 40feet long and 10 feet high so I carved a huge lip into it so you could blast i like a hip as far as you want. then I kept adding more and more dirt to the lip and soon it was a 20ftwide 8ft tall quarter on the face. well the day after I built it it was still wet and I took off to house sit for a month. I come back today and the lip is fucking solid although someone came and unloaded two dumptrucks full of dirt right in front of it. fuck. how long yall reckon to move those piles of dirt over ten feet? 5manhours each pile? fuck

oh and the run up to this jump is amazing. a quarter mile of flat concrete you can get towed in via car if you'd please

The Bike Shop / is greyhound strict about bikes and luggage?
« on: December 22, 2016, 12:46:32 PM »
most buses I've taken, Vietnamese bus, sf-commuter bus and even bolt bus (owned by greyhound) let me just throw my bike and big framed backpack in one of the spaces under the bus, no hassle. seems like greyhound have same rules about luggage as airplanes, and the one time I rode them, they sucked and kicked me off. well has anyone just shown up with their complete assembled bike and luggage and not been given shit for it? they say only one piece of luggage so I have to break down my bike, wrap it in a towel and tape and throw all my clothes and shit in there too, really annoying, has anyone shown up with a bike and luggage and not been hassled or charged extra for it?

if I just broke it down to wheels ulocked to the frame would they give me shit for not having it wrapped up? anyone have positive experience with bikes and greyhound?
