June 25 2004, just over 13 years of the little blue site with the shadiest bunch of people on the internet. Bikeguide needs a revival.

Edit:Going through super old PM's and got back to some pretty in depth things with Brian Itzania. Shame that guy left the way he did. He used to work for Masi bikes, and it turns out years later I'd be working to distribute them. BG works in mysterious ways.

I don't understand the 48 spline Odyssey cranks, or the new Twisted pedals, unless it's to hit a price point.

Thunderbolts and Grandstands are too nice to consider anything else.

Not so much for the aftermarket sales, most likely these are made for OEM spec. Sunday - Everything is twisted PC pedals. Crankset - You might find a splined crankset on a high-mid range model as opposed to a Sunday spec'd crank for a bit of added flavor. That and it gives a lower price point crank for people who would otherwise not be able to fork out the money for crank and socket drive sprocket.

I dunno man. Just finished Breaking Bad not too long ago. Looks scary. Especially if you're saying you're actually a little blonde girl now.

Depends. Good or Cheap/Okay

I'd hit up any camera store and browse the used section. I got a steal on a Manfrotto tripod back in the day that was hardly used at all. Solid quality.

I would like to say terrible idea, but I've never seen it done. I'd say good luck finding bladed 2.0mm 182-192mm length spokes to begin with.

Look for the size in cm somewhere on your bike. If it's small it'll be between 50 and 53cm.

You've probably got too much weight resting on your hands. Try raising the bars slightly. Could be as easy as flipping your stem over, and tilting your bars slightly upwards.

Bike bibs. Decent pair.
(Shorts give you muffin tops and cut into your waist, they suck)

Bike saddle is tricky. Find a shop that has demo saddles and play with different widths and shapes. Hard/soft, wide/narrow, flat/curved. I went through around 6 different seats before I found one that doesn't feel like I'm about to be sterilized after a few hours.

Conditioning helps. Day 1 ride, you'll be fine until the tail end of a ride. Day 2 - you'll be sore, but try to get out for an hour. Day 3 - pain should subside. If you still have pain or numbness then the seat is wrong. Change it up.

Also try lowering the seat a bit to even out your position. Easy way would be to lower it to the point where you can barely touch the ground while sitting on it. You should also be able to move your heel through the full pedal stroke. "Scraping the pan" with your heel.

These are cheap solutions, but without knowing height, weight, knee situation, ankle situation, etc, there could be more at play. Getting a proper fitting would be the next step. Expensive, but keep the measurements and you'll be able to transfer that setup bike to bike later on in life.

Well, Canada Post's union wants the usual. Higher wages, lower hours, etc. They're government owned so they're already overpaid and underworked, but this doesn't matter. Canada Post has threatened to strike (They're not even striking yet), but the mere thought of it pushed a lot of distributors to switch means of delivery. This has put an immense strain on those companies, one of which is purolator, who is also partially owned by Canada Post to begin with.

What happens is say I ship 500 apples using Canpar, 500 using Purolator, and 500 using Canada Post on a daily basis, because fuck, who doesn't love apples? (Nazi's and the Dutch, that's who)

If Canada Post says "Well, we might not deliver those apples in a week, so, you better be weary". Then I'm going to say screw it, I'll ship with the guys who I already use who aren't going on strike!

Now thats 750 apples using Canpar, and 750 apples using Purolator. It's 1/3 more than they're used to. Now multiply that by all the commercial shipments, letter mail, overnight packages of documents, regular deliveries, etc. It adds up ferociously.

On top of it, Canpar and Purolator are not taking any new customers because of the overflow, they don't have the ability to do it, and they're not about to go out and buy new truck/hire more staff in order to get the job done for what, 2 weeks, 2 months, maybe a year?

So as a private citizen, who can't get my daily mail because of the strike, and who cannot mail things like cheques, receive mail, or do anything like that, it's puts them in a spot too.

But, it's not like we're trying to separate ourselves from North America, that would be crazy Brexit talk.

The Bike Shop / Re: Measuring Fork Symmetry

http://www.parktool.com/product/frame-and-fork-end-alignment-gauge-set-ffg-2?category=Frame%20&%20Fork

most bike shops should have a pair

doesn't that tool assume that the fork is made correctly, and it's just aligning it so that you tighten your stem at exactly 90 degrees to the wheel....?

i have definitely seen bmx forks where it looks like one fork leg is slightly in front of the other one, even when the front wheel axle is 90 degrees to the top tube and the front wheel is not bolted in crooked....

This is not the tool you're thinking of. (This might be - http://www.bike-discount.de/en/buy/tune-spurtreu-alignment-tool-for-handlebar-stem-412172)

This is to match the sqareness and concentricity of the dropouts. The way they're made, you can tell pretty easily if your dropouts are square to eachother, both face forward at 90 degrees to where the hub interfaces with the dropouts, and if one dropout is sitting higher or lower than the other. On rare occasions (Usually Aluminum only), you'll be able to use these tools to straighten out minor bends. They're really wonderful things. I just haven't added them to my toolbox because, thru-axles and carbon are my world now.

I work for a bike distributor now, Canpar, Purolator, Fedex, UPS, all screwed to hell. Customers are not understanding people.
