where do you live?  and since when have you not been, from what I've heard they did some good stuff fairly recently

Haven't been for a few months, want to go again soon. I heard about a few things, but would rather just see it myself. I'm in VA, and last I went they had just finished the roll in, and making the first box too narrow.

Yeah ZZ has a metal seal rather than a rubber one. I just don't understand how it had a ridiculous amount of play with the new bearings but none with the old ones.

Did you make sure there aren't any shims pressed onto the older bearings? Are they dimensionally equal? Any play when the new bearings are out of the front hub?

Took brakes off again. It's a love hate relationship. Nothing else changed, except I went faster.

These are pretty cool, Jens!  How did you make them?

Has anyone made anything lately?

I just realized I haven't posted anything in this thread, ever. I feel so ashamed. I've built most of my furniture, but recently started exchanging it for stuff I can take apart since I'm moving soon, and nothing flat packs like ikea unfortunately. Did just pick up a sewing machine today though, and will be most likely reupholstering my car soon.

Dude, soak that T1 in vinegar. It'll derust and acid etch for paint. All you have to do is leave it sitting for a day or two and it'll be good.

Or use the electrolysis  method.

Road the big wheel bike, and it's miles ahead of what I was riding before. Definitely pumped on it.

Out of curiosity, how much did that build cost you? looks like a really nice bike, but I know fuck all about road bikes...

Well, I waited for parts to pop on craigslist that I wanted, then I would buy them.

I think I can go through most of it off the top of my head:

Wheels = $50 +$3 for 3 replacement spokes, craigslist
Tires = $25 each, wholesale
Tubes = $10 each, retail
Cassette & Chain = $40ish, retail hookup
Crankset & BB = $65, craigslist
Pedals = $80, wholesale
Bar Tape = $15, retail
Frame, Fork, and Seat post clamp = $120, Craigslist
Stem = $20
Bars = $25
Shifters = $135 for the set (Ultegra Rear and 105 Front), Craigslist
Derailleurs = $30 for the ultegra rear, $10 for the Dura-ace front
Seat Post = $100, retail
Headset = $50 retail
Seat = $80 wholesale
Cables = $20

Which would come out to about $900, but keep in mind I've been building this over two months, tires, tubes, stem, bars, pedals  and seat I already had, and a lot of this stuff came with extras, so I have extra Front derailleurs now, and couple little nick nacks. I enjoyed meeting all the random roadies on CL most though.

Also, keep in mind that I may have spent $900, but there's a lot of parts on here way better than what you'd find on a $1600 ride.

Ti bolts on everything, 3/8ths axles, Drilled out or aero shaped rims, Double butted spokes, Alloy nipples, Super light tubes, Skinny kevlar bead tyres, plastic pegs, pedals & bar ends, One of those seat/post combo deals & parts that are machined/have cut outs. I think that would drop some weight, whats your bike weigh right now?

Was able to get my campillo under 20lbs without any of this.
