Road my touring/cross bike over 100 miles in the past few days. Bombing through a ton of rails to trails in the countryside.

If you can find a Colt Commander those are one of the nicest small framed .45s I've held/fired.  The Glock 23 is pretty small too, .40 is a good compromise.

I know what the NFA refers to.

What I'm asking is what is fun about shooting guns that weren't really designed to be accurate shooters at the range.

I don't get the allure of firing former machine guns single shot at the range..

Hmmm I would probably go with a copy of an original. Any idea what the price range would be?

Depends on the company.  Colt still makes a version but they're pretty pricey ($1200 maybe), Umberti is one of the better reproduction companies ($500 maybe).

Foreign weapons familiarization. You put rounds through damn near every common foreign rifle.

I don't know why I assumed it was issued...that makes sense.

This is gonna sound basic as fuck but I know nothing about guns, but what would be a good "cowboy" gun?

Im a little embarassed asking this in such a manly thread.

Do you want a copy of an original or just a modern revolver ?

Peacemaker or Colt Navy copies would be similar to many of the guns used in the old west.
