The Bike Shop / Re: 3/8th Axle's, Hub set up and weight
« on: January 16, 2016, 03:14:52 PM »
Keep in mind if you go with a 3/8th dropout frame you need to pay attention to the rear hub closely. Some of the hubs out there have a portion of the inner axle sticking out to take up the space on a 14mm dropout. Most likely if the hub collars are thread on, the axle is going to stick out and won't fit your 3/8th's dropout. A press fit collar like a profile hub will fit fine though. Don't be worried about strength, I used to ride 14mm back in the day and bend them monthly. Now axles are heat treated and with a female inner axle that is the inner and outer walls that are strengthened. Also if you were to run pegs the only thing to bend is the bolt, which runs .75 cents at the hardware store and is grade-8 (profile hub), also threading into that much stronger inner axle making a third heat treated wall.
I've been running female 3/8th's since odyssey's first cassette with the male 14mm axles that were solid, drilled and tapped to accept the same hardware bolts the profile hub used.

For an alternative on frame options look into the Credence CCR or FBM steadfast, both are traditional geometry and welded brake mounts.

The Bike Shop / Re: Do chrome rims stop gripping?
« on: July 12, 2015, 01:39:47 PM »
I go over the rims with steel wool (0000) which is the least abrasive made, this brings the sidewall back to a brand new condition. I just put the bike upside down and spin the wheel while holding the wool to the sidewall, then clean the walls with isopropyl alcohol, doing both will remove any embedded dirt or brake pad material from the chrome. Last thing to do is wipe the pads down with the alcohol on a rag until they look fresh again, if they are in bad shape you can use sandpaper first to make them fresh then wipe down with alcohol to remove contamination.

You just described a T-1 Ruben geo on the 21.15" TT frame...

Buy a Buell, it's everything you want between the two of those. XB12's are reliable, plenty of power and torque, and handle amazing! Full adjustable compression/rebound Showa suspension stock, about 4k to 5k for one in good shape. If you want a tube frame there is also the S1 model as well, very similar to the Ducati you posted. Maintenance is dead easy on them and they run hydraulic lifters on the XB's.

Look for something like this http://www.pinkbike.com/buysell/1667246/ , I've got a 7 point setup similar to this one and it's great feeling. Feels good, looks good, and bulletproof. To me it feels closer to a BMX bike than my 26" dirt jump bike does.

The game is fun. I like that it doesn't use the tilt if you don't want to like pumped does. I don't play games on my phone but I saw this post and gave it a try. I also ended up getting pumped after about an hour of this game just to see what it was all about and have something to compare it to, both games are fun for the phone but this one is easier to play right off. I found pumped keep me playing for longer sets of time but got me more frustrated on the difficulty of the tracks/levels. Both games play smooth on my Samsung Note 2 with no glitches or anything like that. I'm sure this game will only get better.

Stupid tall bb heights. Stupid 2° upsweep bars.

This. And stupid bolt on brake mounts.

I had my doubts about the removable mounts too but really there is no more flex than a pair of welded ones with this frame, if they have to be removable they won't be better than this setup. BB is higher than I'd like though, wish it was 11.5 on the ruben with a little taller stand over.
