People don't use patches anymore? I've had tubes w/ 20+ patches on them.

just dig strait down in one spot. you may need 3-4 feet down but before you find good dirt.

looks good!

I'm pretty sure there is some good dirt there, you just have to dig way down to find it. Any idea if/when you're getting dirt from the school?

I have another stem that requires me to do the penny trick. it is annoying and I refuse to do that anymore.

This stem won't break but if it does, it's 30 bucks. I'll buy another one...

the amount of metal that I removed was minimal. I didn't actually use the technique in the picture. I used a flat/round file and filed exactly where it needed to be filed. I pressed the stem onto the steer tube and it would leave tiny marks on the stem. Then I gently filed those areas, slowly.

I didn't realize I could send it in for warranty. but... I also wanted to ride, which is far more important to me.

I hesitate to ask this but... what were you filing?

:)
G.

what would one file to make a round rod (steer tube) fit into a round hole (stem?)

You need a picture? :D

took a file to my freeze stem.

I love when what should be a simple ten minute part swap turns into a cuss fest. Stem pinched and I hate doing the nickle/washer trick. file, file, file, file, cuss cuss, file.

fits well now! :)

I took a full link out of the chain. I'd like to put a half link in though. Just don't have one laying around at the moment.

I took a few spacers out and put them above the stem for now. Four inch head tube leaves a bunch of steer tube sticking up.

Only got to manual it in the front street area and it felt fine. Need to get it on the jumps but I think it's going to feel weird being so much shorter.

I have brake levers on my bikes that are older than most of the folks on this board. my brakes are still real smooth.

I'm holding out for the mainline tire. I want a bit more knobby than the F22 tire has. and, I'm hoping their cheaper... But, if a bunch of F22 tires show up in the states, I'll pick some up for sure. Just don't want to pay 50 bucks a tire.
