Some ugly parts look good on a bike.

Thats really cool, is there a hole in the hub shell to adjust the slack?

You can adjust the slack by putting an allen key through it but its primary function is as a speed hole.

There will be sizes over 21. I think it is 21.3 or something.

Man, these look really good. I got to have a look at a couple on the weekend and they seem really nicely. Some other coasters feel a little funny out of the box (feel fine ridden in, I'm sure) but all of the Odysseys feel super smooth. I think I am going to have to build up my Sunday Ian with one of these and finally give in to small sprockets..

Metropolis seems like a cool idea. You could build a pretty weatherproof bike with all the internal gear stuff. Looking at the price of the stuff I might just go with n+1 (used). My brother lent me one of his spare bikes with gears that I'm trying out at the moment. I'll see how that goes for me. It is a Time carbon dealio that I will never be able to afford. Pretty funny riding Fly Ruben PC pedals on this setup.

The Bike Shop / Big bike question
« on: July 07, 2015, 08:37:32 PM »
Howdy folks,

I've got a Fairdale Parser Express that I really like but I'm toying with the idea of getting some gears for mack's speed. Anyone put gears on a bike with 120mm spacing? I've seen a this kit http://www.fyxation.com/products/six-fyx-conversion-kit and it is affordable but 1- it might be  shit and 2- dropout converter thing might be a no go with the thick dropouts on the Fairdale. I've heard internal gear hubs like Alfine 8 speed are good and there are shifters available for drop bars, problem is they are spaced to 135mm and weigh a ton. Any ideas before n+1 comes into play?

Sweet. I think I have a set of those brakes at home somewhere.

What are some strong 26" rims that come in 32h and black?

Rhyno Lite? Mavic D521 rims are great if you can find them.. Might not be available in black.

I run Fat Alberts (2.4?) front and rear on my 1x1 with Avid single digit V brakes. Clearance is fine on the front but buzzes on the back, maybe because I run it almost slammed.

With it's torque rating and explicit 'get this installed by a professional' talk, it sounds like they're already preparing for a hit or miss on this one.

With the issues coming out with new hubs that aren't damn near a flat out copy of something else I can't blame them.
