Bumping
-Bumping your own thread, will get your thread deleted.

-Bumping somone elses, will get you a warning, at the very least. Possibly more.

-Using stupid tricks to get your thread bumped will not be tolerated.

-If your thread falls, TOUGH. It is because no one else is interested in seeing it.  So KNOCK IT OFF.

Image Size
-I'm tired of clicking on threads that have images that take up the entire screen and require scrolling to see the entire frame.  If you are going to post a picture resize it to a reasonable size or I will delete the thread.

-I don't want to hear anyone bitching about this because with the advent and popularity of Photoshop and similar programs this is not a difficult task to accomplish.

Flags/Smileys/Etc attached to initial thread
-I know that the site offers all sorts of fun little icons for you to use when you post a thread to draw attention to yourself.  Now here is the problem.  Not a single one of you deserves to have your thread looked at over someone else's thread.  Do not use these little icons to draw attention to yourself.  Only a few people have been doing this and I've heard complaints about it from a few other posters.  I have been going through deleting the icons as I see them but I've grown tired of doing so and will just delete your thread from here on out.  What that means for you is that if you want people to actually see what you are posting leave those icons off.

-I am only saying this for the person that is creating the thread becuase the icon they attach is visible within the actual forum.  If you're replying I could care less if you use those icons becuase it doesn't draw extra attention to the thread.

I'd say stickying is a trick to get your thread bumped.

Sorry, touchy area, I'm joking.

Pretty much all forums. Just seems to be more of an issue in certain ones.

A bunch of ones in the bike gallery and sell/swap have been deleted.

Use your own judgement.  If it fits on a screen set at 1024x768pixels you should be good.

It just gets annoying having to scroll to view the entire image.

I guess if you want actual restrictions try to keep images your posting directly on the board under 650 pixels high and under 900 pixels wide.  If you want to link it to an external site I don't care how big it is because that doesn't affect how the board is viewed.

Since not everyone has a photoshop program, here's how to do it in paint.

-Open the image in paint

-At the top left of the screen, click where it says “Image”

-Under Image go to “Stretch/Skew” (Ctrl + W)

-Then under Stretch (the first two boxes) change the horizontal and vertical percentage (100% is the original size of your picture.  If you enter 25%, it will be 25% of the original size, not 25% less than what it is now)

-MAKE SURE THAT YOU TYPE IN THE SAME NUMBER FOR BOTH HORIZONTAL AND VERTICAL

-No need to dick around with Skew

-If you find the image isn't the size you want, go to “Edit” then, “Undo” (Ctrl + Z) and enter in a different number (Image is too small - larger number)  (Image is too big - smaller number)

I agree.

so what, if your thread hasnt had action, then you think of something you wanna add to it, then, that gets it deleted?

BG...ahhhhh nvm.

If it legitimately belongs there, and benefits the discussion, yes.

Bumping more or less refers to bringing it back for no good reason. If you have a reason, then go for it.

The problem is people just adding "cool" or some other dribble that does nothing to further the thread.

He's right.

I had debated making this thread while he was in full swing but he hasn't used them for a while.

A few others haven't behaved nearly as well though.

It's been at least a week... maybe even two!

But really, that gloskris kid is the one that got to me.  When I got home from the weekend I found I believe five threads he had started that had them.

Five?!

Why, that's just blasphemy.

Edit bit - Jay, the only reason you stopped using them is because you're scared James will shout at you again.

That went down like this:

Jame$ yelled at him.
nobody removed all the tags he (Volume Jay) put on his posts.

And don't get smart with me mister.  Five random threads with those tags in a couple days is a lot.

Average size monitor rez is 1024x768. With picture quality and dslr/broadband usage, 800x600 is old.

All photo forums allow 1024x768. I think it's time this place got with the times.

Title: Photo Gallery Rules
Post by: nobody on March 21, 2006, 09:30:09 PM
I said reasonable.

The problem with posting images up to 1024 is that yes, most people are running their monitor on that resolution now.  However, that leaves no room for task bars and the rest of the forum, thus throwing off how the page is viewed.

Maybe I am just lucky. But I think 1024 x 768 is from quite some years ago. I hope everyone is running at least 1280 x 960 right now?

Shouldn't this be moved to the riding photo's now or deleted?
