2005 Interbike report and rant is up.
It was a long trp for being so short.

Sorry guys, I only had so much time.
I went for the things few new about, and were going to be big news, or were big news while I was there.
I only had a few hours. That included meeting everyone.
-
Let the money savings begin!
-
Wow, thanks.
I expected the fly rims to be really light, thats a bit of a disapointment, they'd probably be strong though.
-

The lower sidewall is just HUGE. 3mm thick!
You will have a hard time flat spotting them.

Fly has been confusing me latley. I have always look at them as making light parts, but those rims and the Ruben tires are no where near light.
-
good report but target="_blank">shame on you sheep!
-
Thanks, so far you are the only site, racing or freestyle, i know of to post anything.
-
thanks sheep..that report was nice and i like the twist with todd!!
-
I like how the design of the carnks has been compromised because everyone's gone for the mid bb. Imagine that bad boy with a 25mm axle and no wedge interface thingy. Or a spider type thing attached to the drive side arm and a new design of sprocket.
Also I'm not keen on the way the arm meets the axle boss, every crank I've seen with that so far has had a tendency to snap at that point.
-
tree bars-when???
sam should update his site
-
Thanks for the report- looks like there was a lot of cool stuff to think about from that show. I like Jim Cielencki's idea of varying the back-end length with the top-tube, and the idea of a normal headset that accepts integrated bearings. Kinda bummed about the new trail-kings though, they look far too thin, and IMO did not need to be changed at all.
-
the sunday and fly stuff looks awsome.
super report by the way sheep, thankyou.
-
awesome report, thank you sheep!
pretty exciting look through the crystal ball
-
Glad you guys liked it.
I had a lot of fun. I hope the article sounds that way. I tried to convey that it was fun, but tiring, and portray more of what Interbike is, rather than what people think it is.
My thanks to all the companies who put up with me. It was great meeting everyone. While I did not mention it in the report, I did miss someone, and I did look for him..
Kerry (syrbmx, Last Call), I did look for you. Not sure if you were there, but I did look.
Otherwise I think I met everyone who showed that I looked for.

Actually, George said he was surprised at how well they work with a 22mm.
He did not think it needed a 25 after all.
25mm presents some serious issues.
-
rad.
If this year showed anything, it is that companies are actually listening to you guys. Many are listening here.
radder, i'll have a beer and money sandwich, hold the bread.
The real pisser of the night though was how many times some jerkoff would go to grab his buddy and would end up with a handful of my hair, YANK! How can you grab a handful of hair and not know you are yanking somones head all over the place. It got so bad I had to stick it under my shirt. I do not meanit happened once or twice, it happened over a dozen times. Hey retards, watch what you are doing!
i would of delt out slaps mate. that's taking liberties innit?
The Australians killed it.
they need to make up for thier pathetic attempts at playing cricket, bless em.
final edit bit - i'd love to go to interbike and geek it up. and i could out drink/drug consume most there too. it'd be hellacore to the max. i'd get munted, make a tit out of meself and get a free rim. :)
-
The article seemed depressing to me, but I'm glad you had a good time.
-
Good review Sheep, I think you pretty much showed everything that was worth showing. You missed a couple of parts, but someone will cover them soon. One thing that needs to be fixed in your review though is that the seat clamp on Robbies S3 is not a Fit. It is actually one of ours (ZodiacEng.). I think many people got confused with this because the pockets are similar to the S3 stem he is running. It was nice to meet you at the show and talk to you a little bit about everything.
-
i apologize if i said anything stupid, i had been drinking for 14 hours by the time i saw ya (damn you Etnies and Tip booths and your damn free beers)
good to meet you and Cory, and i hope my scar was impressive!

I thought you seemed a bit weary at that point was all, and your scar was quite impressive. That thing covers a lot of distance!

yeah, i had taken a 6 am flight out of Austin that morning, which required me to wake up at 4 am, so i had been up for almost 24 hours (14 of them were spent with at least one drink in my hand)
next year, i'm taking a later flight...

I don't know, I was specifically told that was the new Fit seat clamp.
Cool to meet you too. Wish I could have stayed longer.
As for covering everything, I had little time and I tried to spend most of it meeting people. Loads of other places will cover the other stuff. I wanted the highlights as that was all I left time for. Even then I was running all over.
Basically I went to each booth, took a quick look, if nothing caught my eye, I moved on. Also, asked a few people about anything they had spotted.

You seemed fine, who wasn't tired and/or a little tipsy.
Just glad to meet everyone.

That new Elementary, is not going to be made.
At least not for a while. The current one is fine.
It was a way to thumb their nose at other companies and their "light" 10oz.+ stems.

Sheep i would be very intersted to hear WHO told you it was the new Fit clamp...because everyone at the Fit and S&M booth is good friends to our company, and was specifically informed as to the fact that it was NOT a prototype Fit part, but a PRODUCTION ZodiacEng. part. You can check it on our myspace page: http://www.myspace.com/zodiaceng Thanks.
-
In case of any mix ups here's a picture of the clamp at OUR display in the GreasyCombDistribution booth (next to TipPlus)...this one is anodized black..robbie asked for a raw brushed alloy one for his bike becuase it matched the raw finish better...thanks again(http://

...and the one on robbies bike at the show

Actually, Rob-O said it, maybe he was joking or I miss-understood.
-
That is definitely a Zodiac clamp, They gave it to Rob-o to put on for the show..So much confusion for a seat clamp..
-
Actually, Rob-O said it, maybe he was joking or I miss-understood.
Considering I designed, wrote the programs, setup the mill, machined, deburred, polished, and handed Robbie the clamp, I think I would know better than anyone that the clamp is not a Fit seat clamp. Not only did I make this one, I have been making these for close to four years. Look at my bike check and see how long before Interbike I posted the pictures. You can clearly see that clamp on there. Long before the Series 3 line was even thought about. In no way am I trying to start something with this, because there is nothing negative going on between Fit and us. I am simply trying to clear this up.
-
bah seatclamps suck anyways. i took mine off the day I bought my bike
I liked the writing. it was like reading a movie
-
It was a missunderstanding, calm down you guys.
It was changed earlier today.
-
If that was a fit seat post clamp, i would of bought it. meh.

No reason to not buy it just because it isn't.
