The forum has seen so many setbacks over the last 5 years (thanks Sheep ::) ) each one losing more and more of the old members. I don't think we can bring this place back.
That being said, I'm taking a few minutes to clean things up around here and people can still enjoy it while it lasts.

I think everyone just has different tastes now. Bmx is painful for some. I still ride, even found some folks to ride with regularly. I miss the old days some times.

The name's Shearer, Kirk Shearer, I used to lurk BG before I registered to TCU board 10 years ago.
So first off thanks everyone for the knowledge i've been putting to work for years (bike tech, etiquette etc..).
I've been working at a local shop since '09, I was slackin' on the bike, but not as of 2017(compared to lately).

I came back to Bikeguide the other day to geek out about gearing sizes and crank arm lengths...I'm actually kind of ashamed to say I use this place like a library nowadays...
I miss old Bikeguide where kids be nervous about what they post for fear of getting neg. repped and getting annihilated in the hate forum..

I recently de-activated my facebook, couldn't be happier about it.
I still have my bmx (yes dick, still your s3.5 aitken) but it gets pedaled around a few times a year. Couple manuals and feeble grinds. It just hurts my back.
I have a 26" hard tail thats fun for drunk bike rides with friends, and I recently acquired this rad thing. Just got some pink ODI grips for it in the mail today.

So many different types of forums are dying thanks to Facebook. But Facebook groups have fucking terrible organization and are useless for anything other than what's current. I miss how the internet used to be.
I don't check on here much cause it slowed down and I got out of the habit of it, but I probably ride BMX more lately than I ever have. Mostly just drinking beers, riding fakie, peg chinking stuff, and falling on my face. Never gets old.

Real talk. BG made me a cynical kid because all the cool guys on here were bitter and mean to each other. Rep was such a cool aspect of BG.

I should have chimed in sooner. I watch the forum a lot as there's still Russian spam that pops up here pretty often and I kill it. I've slacked on posting for a long time, but might start trying to shit talk on here again.
Now that the numbers are so low, I wonder if we can turn this back into a place where we can swear and stuff more often? Who's got contact info for Sheep? Would love to see if we can get away with hot chick threads and the like again.

Kurt owns it 100% IIRC, but left Sheep still in charge of running the asylum.
To be honest we would need to regain control of the site and let Kurt designate new admins. Or, like Alex once mentioned, make our own MFBS.com and tell Google advertising to fuck off so we can post whatever we want again.

There is probably something I'm missing, and this may be a bit out of order, but over the last few years:
Server crash with no backup
Forum software crash
Forum software change
Sold to Kurt@bmxunion
Another forum software crash?
No more nudity or questionable content because Google advertising
Each issue caused a pretty significant loss of traffic.
Much of this could have been prevented. Kurt has been hands-off since he bought the site. And most importantly, Sheep has been 99% MIA and only rarely popping in to fuck up things more each time. Yes I'm a bit bitter. Lol

Pretty accurate TL:DR. Remember when they said the new forum would prevent spam bots, and in turn just locked out roughly half of the active/veteran members while still allowing spam bots in? Good times.

I got a vasectomy. I couldn't be more disappointed in humanity. I have my dream job managing the greenhouses for Sacramento State. I'm surrounded by people with so much plant genetic expertise. Sheep, Kurt, whoever else is involved... Is there anything right now to worry about like domain or hosting lapsing, forum software issues, etc.? Even if Bg never pops off again it's cool to see it survive in a usable state

None of the big boys ever pop by anymore, I still delete spam as a force of habit.
There's 100s of spambots signing up every day, it's a shame they haven't done anything to make it more difficult for them.
