A limited run of 50 have been made. They will cost 85 dollars, interview here http://bmxunion.com/daily/insight-terrible-one-cyclops-stem/
-
I was about to post this. My bike doesn't need a new stem but this is tempting.
-
Sick to see it done.
Too bad its nearly 5 years too late =/
-
Dude gets s&m to make everything else, but not these?

S&M might not be interested in doing something that small and conceptual. But I agree, if they would then it would make much more sense.
-
If i had the money I'd order one
-
Bikeguide's servers would have been burning to the ground if this had happened 5 years ago. It looks amazing, wish i had the disposable income to get one.
-
I talked to empire about them yesterday, they're taking pre orders for the next batch. Also asked if they thought this would eventually become a normal, in stock item. They said they thought so.
Nothing moves units like making something seem super limited. Better hurry and buy right now
-
They sold out before they even went on the online store. Gutted.
-
The bikeguide #1 question, 1/4" or 6mm key?
-
1/4"
-
Does anyone make imperial thread with metric heads like blue6 used to? Will the profile ones fit?
-
initial batch was very limited, but if all goes smoothly there will be plenty to go around in 2017
-
...a normal, in stock item.
From T1? Is there such a thing?
-
I don't even need one of these. I've just been waiting 10 years for one.
-
Seconded, don't need this but really, really, really want it.
-
ha its finally being released after YEARS of waiting! saw a tweet yesterday that their inbox blew up the other day with inquiries
-
It took me three tries to get it installed properly.

Here's the how-to video from Joe: https://vimeo.com/193881107/comments

Can't wait for mine.
-
Thoughts on the setup video lol. I really want to like the stem. It looks killer
-
After watching that video I'm not sure I actually want one anymore. 1/4" allen keys can fuck off and I'm not keen on installing my stem with a hammer. Shame, it's such a cool looking thing.
-
The 1/4" bolts are a pain as everything else on my bikes is 6mm. I think I will still get one simply because I have waited this long for it.
-
The compression bolt and the wedge thing is a turnoff.

BMX has become so asthetic its unbelievable.
Camo tires, tie dye seats, purp frames.
i want one.
-
I like the design. The installation process may not be as simple as a traditional stem but stems are an install and forget part anyway. It'd be nice if the the second batch comes with metric bolts though, an imperial allen is the tool of a pikey.
-
Fucking imperial bullshit. A service manual for a fan in my greenhouse called for a tablespoon of grease yesterday.
PS-aren't pikeys an English thing? Ergo, they use metric?
-

????? Always was.
-
It's cool that this thing finally became real, but it's easily 10 years late. Cool for Joe that they sold out though.
-
I didn't make the cut for the first batch. Put my pre-order in for the next batch.
On a bolt related note, does anyone have a link where I can still get the 6mm broached Profile 5/16-18 bolts? Can't find them on their site or any of the mail orders.

I don't know what they use these days but the system is called imperial for a reason.

Ah man I crashed at the park and my bars moved. Let me just get my 6mm, my 1/4" and my hammer. Nope.

Is this the bolt size that the newer Standard stems use?
-
that looks like way to much bullshit just to put a stem on

Really like how the graphic looks on the black stem. I don't think I'd have the patience to deal with the process of putting that stem on though.
-
2017 time to re engineer the stem again.
I do like that there is no aluminum being stretched around the steerer each time you tighten/loosen your stem.. how often is that though? I mean stems do stretch, people have removed material because the back of their stem is touching.
Installation? Not a big deal.. as long as it holds the steerer good enough. Problem is if it moves you're stuck without a hammer?
"Hey you have a hammer?"
Actually those Animal multi tools had a hammer... or you only need a hammer to completely remove/install? 6mm bolts might be nice, or the option. S&M had the 6mm coarse thread bolts? During the redneck xlt release?
The Tree headset caps actually have both 1/4" & 6mm allen broaches as well.
MERICA
-
Oh boohoo. You only need a hammer to set the bottom wedge when you install it.
All the main components on my bike already use imperial fasteners anyway.
-
I think I will get one ! looks awesome.
-
True to form, BG is bitching about the stem that we clamored for for years.
-

It looks like the hammer would only be needed for initial installation and not for small adjustments.

they only have the 1/4" allen broach available now. I talked to Profile shortly after posting that and they mentioned the batch of of 6mm broached bolts they made were over heated during the heat treatment. This made them brittle and they are no longer available. I did find my old Blue6 5/16-18 bolts so I will probably end up using those for the 6mm convenience.

Bummer! Anyone have a spare set of B6 bolts kicking about?
-
3 of the homies and I put preorders in at Empire for the next batch. I'm bummed about the imperial threads but I might just drill it out and run a metric helicoil kit through. Been waiting long enough and it looks so good that I have to get one anyways.
-

I agree 100%. As soon as I saw that it has imperial hardware, that was enough for me to not want it. And, I'm a proud T1 owner and booster. That said, I'm glad it finally got made and that everyone that owns one seems super stoked on it. It just isn't for me. I'm in the market for a new stem and I think the Relic Eon (rider owned company, USA made, metric hardware) is the way to go.
