Title: Noise after overhauling freecoaster (odyssey)
Post by: bsd510 on August 12, 2016, 03:08:22 PM
I overhauled my odyssey clutch hub today since I've been using it quite a bit for the past 8 months. I took extra caution to make sure everything was put together correctly. After cleaning and greasing the hub, everything runs smoothly however when I pedal hard there is a k-k-k-k-k sort of noise and I am wondering if this noise is the clutch re-bedding into the shell and will go away soon? The engagement overall is much smoother but I am worried about damaging the hub since crunchy noises and hubs don't go well together.

I thought about the design of the Hub and the only parts that seem like they would make noise pedaling hard would be driver bearings or the clutch itself and I'm pretty sure the driver bearings are fine. Does anyone else have any experience in this? Thank you!

maybe some debris made it into the clutch thread

Figured it out, had to put the primo dsg back on and the creaking went away. Kinda sucks cuz it probably means something is not quite right if there's a creaking noise without any guards
