my computer wasnt insanely slow when i left home four months ago. i was able to use it.
now i go most any site other than craigslist and here and it slows to a freeze. like if i hover the mouse over a button, i cant even click it. pages take minutes to load. it is ridiculous.
i opened up task manager and both firefox and chrome will use 100% of the resources.
i wont have a bunch of tabs open like i used to
i dont have a bunch of mods or extensions
iirc i may have downloaded norton antivirus right before i took off. could that be it?
-
Norton has that effect on computers. I had to uninstall my version as my computer just became horribly slow.
Otherwise reformat your drive and/or clean the inside of your computer.
-
Too much pr0n.
-
why would you need to go on any other sight apart from BG?
-
its time to upgrade from windows 95 blue
-
reformat???
it is going insanely slow, very sure due to norton
and of course i cant disable norton
it is a $150 computer i got off new egg that came with a fake copy of windows
what is the closest i can get to a reformat without needing to reinstall a copy of windows (which i do not have)
also can anyone recommend me a cheap complete laptop that can handle simple browsing AND norton antivirus
this has two gigs of ram and 64gig hard drive, i figured it should be able to handle interneting just fine, but i guess im wrong
-
Maybe try avg why not?
-
Man, fuck Norton in the arse. Get Bit Defender for free and if you want a cheap laptop just for browsing get a Chinese model like Lenovo.
-
hey, i was able to unistall norton but its still pretty damn slow.
should i click the system restore option it always asks me about at bootup?
can i do that without a windows disk and/or authentic copy of winsdows
-
You might just have some malware going on, in which case you are fucked.

Run Malwarebytes anti-malware to be sure it's not some virus.
