coming in to save the ugly parts thread what is the first part that comes to your head? Can be tha ed shirt on here or aaron ross's face.
i'll say. Chrome bars. Just hate the look of black bikes with chrome bars everyone is abusing now a days. get real.
-
have a massive list ... i'll keep it short n sweet
director forks
khe anchor bar stem combo
khe combo seat that stupidly small over they did
plastic seat posts
plastic seats
25 and below teeth sprockets
bars bigger than 8.5
wheels with less than 36spokes
plastic pegs
that'll do for now
-
i have a plastic peg on my bike and 9" rise bars out of those.
i'll say twisted spokes and your friend who thinks its cool.
-
Premium Slim pedals. They feel awful.
-
Premium Slim pedals. They feel awful.
shit, i have those on my mtb. dont like em for my bmx i run primo supertenderizers tho!
i'm gonna have to say animal bpe and anyone still buying plastic pedals.
-
Odyssey Elementary stem.
Odyssey Aaron Ross tire.
Anything Oil Slick.
Those super low top tube frames from a couple years ago.
Big, fat stupid coloured seats.
-
Fluorescent colors or any color Aaron Ross parts come in.
-

So...black?
-
Chains, I hate breaking them or them not working 100% 100% of the time.
Spokes too. These motherfuckers can make manuals go different directions, rail rides fuck up, and make your tire rub on your chainstay. Hate fucking spokes. George or the Germans better get to work on some electromagnetic rim/hub combo.
-
Way too big tires.
Way too wide bars, anything >28" is just silly.
Anything Animal
And I second the elementary stem, loved the idea myself and got it but it just gave me headaches.
Non-splined sprockets. Since I got splined sprockets everything is so much neater down there.
-
Hate the look of pivotal seats and flangeless grips.
-
Coloured tyres are awful.
-
tires bigger than 2.1 , because it has no benefit , weighs more, looks gay , waste of materials.
plastic pedals, most people would have 33% bigger chance to land a trick, but they put these slippery stupid things on and complain, they suck, they should all ride (ruben) metal pedals with metal pins and man the fück up - land mre tricks , get ladies WINWINWIN
shadow chain
also unequal flanges on hubs- I understand the reasons but still it bothers me.
-
Coloured tyres.
Massive tyres.
Tripod seats (except the etnies one).
Half link chains.
Chain slap.
Small pedals.
Pedals with concave.
Whatever part you find isn't compatible when fitting.
(Integrated seat clamps don't quite warrant any hate but do niggle).
-
Tires bigger than 2.3, pegs, half link chains, frames without chain tensioners
-
fell in love with the elementary stem the moment i saw it online. bought a v1 and used it, bought a v2 when it came out just to put on a shelf, bought the v3 when it came out and swapped onto my bike. the v1 is now on the shelf just for me to look at. beautiful piece of engineering, not just from the functional perspective, but also how it's designed to make manufacturing it easily. if you video the manufacturing process it'd be like those industryporn vids.
oh, stuff i hate? a lot of products in BMX are still quite shit yet popular. its the idea of some younger kids thinking one part is superior than the next because of whoever pro is riding that brand, or buying into the gimmicky ideas that those companies sell that i hate. This hate, whilst mild, is more on a spiritual level than material.
EDIT: also KHE integrated stem and bars for street riding. on top of how it's a silly idea (which may have had a chance of being well excuted and can fit certain people), it's SO BADLY MADE.

This. It is what I dislike most of the BMX industry, how it is so based on marketing (which I feel teams are a part of). Just good design and build doesnt cut it.
-
Railed seats
Pivotal seats
Slim seats
Colored tires
Half links
-
Fit indent cranks look like they're stamped out of a tin can. They look like they were built with manufacturing in mind, not with design in mind.
-
F*ck it, I'll say it, GT dropnose seats, don't understand what people like about them.
-
heavy monster truck tires
tires with near no material on the sidewalls
microknobbies that tear one right after another
khe tires that only come in one size, 2.15
36hole odsy midways and other superheavy duty rims and hubs being in 36h
dropdown frontload stems in conjunction with highrise bars
really fucking wide bars
deluxe grips that look like old corey martinez grips but are made of shit material
vans/cult grips feel like shit
shitty plastic barends
tiny pedals (flys)
premium pedal spindles are always bent
halflink chains
sprockets that have a design that looks like 5 bolt holes but only one of them actually is a bolt hole
forks that dont fit pegs (pitchforks)
elementary stem - cracked my sharp bars at the knurling, would not grip my odsy lumberjacks
lumberjack bars - same geometry as my slam bars but feels like shit
-
KHE in general. I have never hated a company as much as this, but its based on the fact that way back when they denied that there was anything wrong with their terribly weak and awful products.
-
Wow great read blueeee!
Since I ride flat I'll chime in
Rims with a sharp profile that dig into your hands when you grab them
Knobby tires
Maxxis Mirracle tires- those were the slowest f*cking rolling tires I ever felt. Ridiculous
Bars with high crossbars
Kmc 410 chains-snapped the plates off a few times on these
Bottom brackets that come with a heavy ass steel tube spacer versus the actual good quality ones that include a light aluminum spacer (but who cares I don't even run a tube spacer anymore)
Seats that don't have a good ridge on the underside that make it hard as shit to grab (most tripod seats, the animal Nigel seat, and lots of others)
Low TT scooter frames
Bent downtube frames
Frames that only come in 3/8"
Frames with removable mounts (brakeless all the way)
Any non-odyssey fork (they all crack)
Heat treated frames (they all crack)
Frames still coming out in <19" sizes
Bars still coming out in <9" (the new Hoffman flat bars are 8" what p*ssies)
That's it for now
-
F*ck it, I'll say it, GT dropnose seats, don't understand what people like about them.
Yeah this so much, then they chop the nose off.
I forgot to add Eclat's Phantom rim to my list, just complete and utter shit. The tighter you get the spokes the weaker the wheel becomes, I can bend the fucker with my hands. Not too mention the quality of the rim itself. The spokes holes were left rough as hell after drilling they tore up quite a few nipples before I realized the problem, thought I just had a bad batch of nipples.
-
man....i hate front load stems on upside down....shit looks WHACK
-
Half link chains are the worst. That and brakes.
-
brakes.

front load stems in general!!!!

Tall bars, there is NOTHING out there for 25x7.75 anymore because of stupid 12 year olds buying bars that are way too big for them cuz they're cool
Halflink chains
1pc seat/post combos
Overly large tires and the fact that 2.1s are impossible to find when both of my frames pretty much require that size
36h EVERYTHING. I like 48h in the rear because it needs way less maintenance and I can't feel a weight difference
Drivers smaller than 10t
Compression bolts that do not accept a 6mm allen
Anything that takes odd size allen bolts - I'm looking at you Profile
-
womb/twomb/thunderbolts
anything colony
anything oil slick
tenderizers, only had grip on the first session, after that the pins would rip off
revenge/joytech shit hub i'm using right now
i'll think of more stuff

How can you hate the Odyssey cranks? Too easy to install? Too easy to remove? Not enough wobble? Do they not bite your ankles enough?
I'm honestly curious. I've got a pair on each of my bikes and love them.
-
some people hate em. one shop my mate was trying to get some wedges from said they wouldnt stock them and they hated them and they were the worst cranks ever. they often post about how amazing it is every time they build a wheel with a profile hub though.
my eclats have lasted ages, ill probs grind through the pedal boss before i snap them i reckon. will replace them with odysseys when they do die though, only reason i got them was cos they were dirt cheap and basically brand new

i had a set of twombolts with the odyssey bb and no matter what combo of spacers the arm would always come lose, i traded them for old 22mm specialized cranks and they were fucking dope. really similar to the animal cranks.

I hate any part that Grant Castelluzzo puts out. Rather watch Dan Lacey habitually smoke marijuana for ten hours straight.
-
It's super forced^
-
I've seen many womtwomthunders break. More than I've seen profiles racing cranks break.

righteous hate right here. Also jake seely seems to me like a cow that cant leap for shit.
-
Everything Shadow/Subrosa.
-
Only just spotted this on The Merged, but this 'Roller Peg' by appropriately named company suicide. Holy fuck it looks like a bad idea; https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=240&v=nqFMFnZijzE

oh hai 2007

Oh, so they are idiots then. That explains the unjustified hatred of a good crank.

shit breaks sometimes. everyone has a different experience with the parts they buy.
personally i hate the cranks and i also hate the ratchet, i probably had faulty parts or some shit.
-
Kids with 10"-11" bars.
I can't tell you how many people offered my perfect 10s and 11s locally. These aren't grown men wither just pudgy little spoiled kids with shitty bikes and a good part here and there thinking they have a $2000 bike.
I also hate when kids say sealed bearings when trying to make a sale of a part sound sweeter.

Like totally Kenneth.

True, but if it breaks due to user installation error, it's not the crank that's at fault, therefore the hate is unjustified.
