Looks like we lost the "Weekly Music Hyped-Ons" thread so time for a new one.
I made a Spotify playlist of some of my favorite early 2000 songs. If you like pop-punk, I recommend giving it a listen. You'll probably know a lot more of the songs than you thought.

Path Of Resistance. It's commonly called the wu tang of hardcore.
I can't await for the new the effort album. I love the effort.

This guy is amazing, seeing him again next weekend and was at the live show that this album is from.
-
The new pink Floyd album is amazing
-
I'm still completely obsessed with QOTSA since Reading last year. Such a good band. I always liked em but was never a massive fan til I saw em live.
-
Digging the new Kendrick and Modest Mouse releases.

Digging the new Kendrick and Modest Mouse releases.
I hated the new Modest Mouse album the first go around but it's growing on me. I felt the same about their previous album, I don't know something about Modest Mouse makes me it hate it first then after a while I'm like 'this is nice.'
-
The new pink Floyd album is amazing
Listened a couple goes in spotify and read a bunch of reviews; where neither left me feeling real good about it. Definitely something to listen all the way through uninterrupted (not spotify).
-
Yeah I often find new Modest Mouse albums quite abrasive at first but once you get the feel of it they're great.
-
Came in to post Kendrick. New Action Bronson is out soon, so excite.
-
I second Endless River being amazing.
-
I also can't get enough of Soundgarden's Superunknown at the minute. Such a good album.
-
Just bought tickets for The Get Up Kids 20th anniversary tour. Just realised the last time I saw them was 14 years ago, I feel old.
-

Yeah, I run through a Queens album at least once a week. So tight.
On my third listen of Kendrick's new offering, getting into it.
-
Steely Dan has been my new favorite band lately. And I've been listening to the new Bayside album, Cult.
I also made a few songs with my guitar and my phone, I'd appreciate if you guys told me if they suck or not.

Been listening to a lot of Watsky lately. Good music to hop in the car and drive somewhere to.

I've been really digging the new record from In-Flight Safety (Halifax, Nova Scotia) lately.
Get into it.

My friends band. Signed to arts and crafts the other year and getting national buzz.
-
I've been into this band Chumped lately. I saw them with Jeff Rosenstock, Smith Street Band, and Andrew Jackson Jihad the other night, and I felt 17 again. It was great. Anyone that gets nostalgia from old Road Fools 10 era Props rock should give them a listen.

Wu-Tang x Fugazi mashup that's surprisingly really good.
-
Just bought tickets for The Get Up Kids 20th anniversary tour. Just realised the last time I saw them was 14 years ago, I feel old.
Loved all the stuff before they broke up, hated the change in sound when they reunited, would love to see a nostalgia tour where they did the old songs exclusivly.
-
This band kind of reminds me of like Black Sabbath crossed with The Sword or something like that.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8wxC1jsoM3E
Also a bunch of whiny emo math-core kind of shit.

^Liking that a lot.
Continuing this stoner rock vibe, this band is pretty good as well although their name kind of sucks.

Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes album Blossom is pretty awesome. If you liked the first Gallows album you'll probably love it.
I got the latest Kendrick album after seeing him smash it at Reading and thought apart from a few standout tracks (King Kunta, Alright, i and a few others) it's pretty overrated from all the hype I've read about it online.
-
Gonna go see Saxon Saturday night! Bummed motorhead cancelled texas dates but the man needs to rest.
-
Stoked on John Nolan's new solo album.
https://johnnolanmusic.bandcamp.com
And also just came across Alkaline Trio's Damnesia. So good!
-
The new Tame Impala album has been on heavy repeat for the past month. Same with the new Mac Demarco record.
Also, if you've never heard of Cherry Glazerr... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=79l5eAbljR4
Saw them live at a small venue here in town. Super good live, was blown away by how young the girl is though. I think she's like... 18?

I wanna love it as I love Gallows but maaaaaaaaaaan to step out of gallows and say "hate" is a bad thing and start that super shitty band turned me off frank haha. Also minus cool points for his name being in the bands name.
I like metallically (is that even a word haha) hardcore, metalcore, some pop etc
if you're bored and like older street punk/80s hardcore you can check out my band. This is our ep from last year and our lp is out this december via collision course records www.antithought.bandcamp.com

All the two steps.

What's up with Gallows after that first record? It ruled, and the stuff after just wasn't very good at all.
-
That True Identity band is good.
Got the new Title Fight album and it's different, which is what I expected, but it's good!
Also got 'You Destroy Yourself' by Sweet Jesus, Pat Flynn from Have Hearts newer band. Really friggin good.
-
Any of you guys watch the AV Club undercover series?
I can't stop listening to this. I don't know why.

I didnt enjoy like clockwork that much the first few times but after listening to Fairweather Friends recently I find it to be a lot better than originally thought.

Anyone know any good ambience type stuff? Electronic or otherwise, slow build ups etc

Listened to more classic rock in the past week than I have in the past ten years probably. Listened to Dark Side of the Moon for the first time from start to finish last week, holy hell, absolutely amazing album. "Time" is one of the best songs I've ever listened to. Lots of Led Zeppelin, the Beatles, the Who, the Clash, George Harrison... Lots and lots of good stuff.
You guys have any more recommendations? Tired of listening to the same electro, country and hip-hop that's been made in the last 15 years.
Also, tons of Watsky and Yelawolf.
-
Holy shit. I took my wife's little brother to a monster energy drink music fest, and quite distinctly remember the spectacle of yelawolf. That was the worst shit I've ever seen or heard.

24, was just never really into classic rock. When I was younger I wanted to be just like my cousin, and he listened to a lot of rap and hip-hop, so I spent my formative years listening to that. Then once I was 17 or 18, it was more of that, electronic and country music until recently. Now I'm finding id rather listen to a complete album instead of putting my entire library on shuffle.
-
Eric Clapton, Jeff beck, snowy white, lynard skynnard, the eagles, dire straits

Been really into Whitey Morgan, I guess he is kinda Country, Blues, and Americana

Anyone listen to stuff like Jason Becker, Marty Friedman , Steve Vai, Paul Gilbert, etc
-
I've been known to spin a Vai album from time to time. Too wild for me usually though.
-
I added Thursday to my phone. I appreciate it. Thankfully I'll never meet any of you to be face to face with the condemnation of that fact.

My band just released a music video, check er out

Hey Cole, don't forget Bowie.
Werd, not a huge fan, but I do like some of his music.
Been really digging The Smiths lately

Heather by Billy Cobham is pretty chill and ambient. I'm pretty sure the song is sampled in 93 Till Infinity.

I hate that I still listen to Thursday ever once in a while and really enjoy it.
And I'll be up there in February with my bike, so there's a chance I'll meet you face to face, again.

Let's get this going again, what are you cats listening to?
I've had this album on a lot since the Avalanches announced they are getting back together and putting out some new shit (speculative). Great album if you like samples. That boy needs therapy!

Found a Taking Back Sunday tribute album and damn... A lot of these are so great. I guess a good song is a good song. Here's one of my favorites from the covers.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WNeh0rFldVY
Also: do you guys actually give the songs a listen? I've listen to every song posted from front to back but don't always comment because I don't wan't to spam the thread.
-
Depends. I feel like I know what to expect from each of the eight people on here. So, whomever is posting something will be the semi deciding factor.
-
This has been my go to album recently. Even if you don't understand spanish you can still enjoy the tunes.

I prefer the death after Death.
Unfortunately, I haven't heard anything new I have loved in a while. I did buy some Australian hardcore albums on record store day.

Best Australian band going around right now:
The Bennies - Wisdom Machine

Wintergatan. Multiinstrumentalist band from Sweden with different influences. Probably known for their marble machine on youtube. Saw them live yesterday and they're awesome and super chilled as well. Got a free album, too.
-
Anyone check that Free band that's 4/5 of Have Heart?
No, but now I will.
-
Wish my car had spotify instead of sirius. I just thought to look up the new Expolsions record. Like their previous efforts one listen on tinny laptop speakers is a poor experience.
-
Prodigal, check out this album. Pat Flynn on vocals, pretty sick.

Also, this one is the lead singer from Steely Dan and basically you need it just because yeah.

Ulver are superb, one of the best to do it. I've been going back through my US Black Metal records recently, Weakling, Myrkskog, Leviathan, Lurker of Chalice, WITTR, Striborg etc, bleak stuff.
-
Anyone ever heard of Trophy Eyes? New favorite band. So stoked for the new album.

Gary Numan's new album is pretty rad

Sarpanitum - Blessed be my brothers.
This is about 9/10 for me. Never heard of them, but it ended up to be the first death metal album I've bought in years.
Not the most technical nor best produced ever, takes a while to really get into, but then, ah, bliss.
https://sarpanitum.bandcamp.com/
If anyone knows other stuff like this, please post.
And now for something completely different. This guy does acidcore they way it's supposed to be.
A continuous train of non-stop hard kicks combined with dark soundscapes and enough variation to not make it boring.
This stuff gets me into trance even when sober.

Blood Incantation are the best DM band I've heard recently, Starspawn is a tremendous album.
-
I remember a dude on here sharing a song his band made and I've had it in rotation for years. Only just now bothered to check the rest of their songs out. I love this album! It's a shame they don't seem to be making music anymore. Really solid listen.

If that dude still visits BG, you the man.

Quite a coincidence: I saw them by on a gig last sunday and never heard them before.. I wasn't overly impressed, but had a feeling it might have been due to the sound not being all that and the show was fairly short so I put them on my 'to check' list anyway.
