Title: Profile bolt question
Post by: stevefromtexas on February 18, 2015, 10:25:17 AM
So I'm trying to get a bolt with the 14mm adapter so I can run pegs but want to know if I can get a bolt a lowes or Home Depot so I don't have to spend 12 bucks for one bolt has anyone found these at those stores? I'm looking for the one with 14mm with peg adapter.

You're talking about these?

The main issue is that they're chromoly. If you go to Home Depot, you'll be buying cheap steel ones.  It's downright scary to think of a peg snapping off mid-grind.

He's talking about C or F. F takes a 8mm Allen key or a 17mm socket. I'm not sure what Allen size you need for C.

But yeah, as far as I know your only option is to pay profile's extortion price.

Profile's extortion price is because it's a standard thread bolt, with a metric broached head. Aka it's a fully custom machined bolt.

Fair enough.

Are the button bolts metric headed as well?

Hi ten steel will work fine

Profile are still too expensive even after considering they aren't off the shelf bolts

I say just go grab some grade 8 bolts with 3/8-16 threads, and run 3/8 to 14mm spacers in the dropouts.
