Yeah man, it's actually as good as it looks too. It was super broken at the end too and then the university fixed it. That fence in the background is one of those removable ones too(The ones the just put up for construction) and the run in has enough room for, no lie about 20 or 30 full cranks, it has endless options if you're good enough.

wow, i used to session that spot for hours all the time...  one day i wanna ride up that wall, launch offf the giant upledge bridge upright and land into the wallride below,oh damn ive been eyeing that gap for sooooooooo long

you know if you find the sweetspot you can air that wallride down below like a hip.... super hard but totally doable and if you bring some plywood to smooth out the landing, hot damn shit is over! i used to keep a long plywood sign in those bushes, ha, you should try it out! damn i wanna ride down there

soooo ive been working in SF, take the bus in, ride another bus uphill all the way to work, then smash the long all downhill way back to downtown... shit alll over, especially in the hills

This place is off the interstate in south Austin.  i've never bothered to pullover to check it out but finally did.  it's an abandoned waterside that was operating in the 80's.  now it's a bit overgrown but I was able to bomb down it while carving all the turns.  it's great until the end.  if you don't stop on time your'll crash into a murky black water puddle.

The real question is, why don't you have pegs?

I think I know the answer, and if it's because you're trying to go as light as possible, it is not worth it. Grinding is much more fun that not grinding, the little extra weight is justifiable.

you're right.  you really cant session any particular part because it's all downhill.  The second picture is taken facing uphill so it's actually two sets of lefthanded curved wallrides.  that part is fun to hit but then you have to jump on the binders before you crash into the murk.  it's only fun to take a few runs down but definitely worth checking out.

We've came across a skatepark in the centre of Birmingham that none of us have ever heard of, even people who ride the nearest indoor skatepark under three miles away didn't know it existed.

It's been there since 2009, has crazy bowls, a cradle corner, ledges and hips but is in such a shit hole area. I'll post pictures on the computer tomorrow.

someone who knows how to code things should make a world map of spots- users can take a photo on phone or whatever with location settings/gps coordinates embedded. upload them and everyone has a handy map of every city with pictures of spots for when they visit.

Went out looking for spots yesterday. Brought the phone today, so I could show you guys.

Hoping they don't build a rail next to this one. If they don't, it will be fucking awesome. Most of these got a rail next to it, about bar height, so my bars hit the rail if I try to go up/down the ramp.

Found this little set of stairs. About the size I got the balls to jump for now.

Curved wallride, same spot.

Jumped off this thing three times, and fucked the wrists up every time. Tried to go faster, or land rear tire first, but still the same. Tips?

Also seems like a good spot to learn wall rides. Any tips on starting out? What angle should I approach from?

A former Dutch start-up company called newbreeders had a pretty good working map. You could post clips and photos with every spot, opt to choose either park / street / water / etc. spots. Everything was laid over google maps. Could also give yourself a location thus could also form some sort of couchsurfing type-a-deal for bikers / skaters. Later on Transworld took it over (bought it) but the it kinda disappeared in a black hole. Somehow I think that - however good this idea might sound - there just is not a market for it. Maybe in another couple of years the time is right.

Gaps:
Move your bars forward so they are parallel with your headtube. Then you can put more weight onto your feet and bend your knees to absorb the impact.

Wallrides:
Approach at about 45 degrees, pull up like a manual and lean away from the wall. Ride up the wall, turn away from the wall, pull up again and manual off it so you don't nose dive into the flat ground.

This is a DIY spot that skaters built in the hood of Detroit. Rumor has it that its going to at least double in size from what it currently is and there will be a snake run that will go through 2 abandoned houses that back up to the park.
Sorry for the shitty iPhone photos, plus it was really sunny today but you get the idea.

Screen cap, in Westchester there are a bunch of setups like this. Big and small. This one's pretty smooth. Down the street from the Berrics plaza.

I'd kick the shit out of anyone who did something like that to a vehicle I owned. No matter if it was the tire or peg or how ratty the truck is. You don't mess with a man's car or truck.

Some damned good finds though, Carlos.

i spotted some banks earlier while driving home, and i decided to pedal down there at 3am to scope it out and burn off some energy and clear my head (insomnia is a turd). it was too dark to get a pic on my shitty cell phone unfortunately, but it's a loading dock in the back of a meat distribution place that has a couple banks in a row on the sides of the truck loading area, along with a rail at the top of the second bank. as soon as my wrist is better i'll go distribute some of my own meat up and down these banks. and by meat i mean my penis. i will be making fuck to the banks with my penis. and by penis i mean my bike of course. my bike is gonna get balls deep all up in some bank guts and that's what's up.

i'll go take pictures when i'm feeling less turned on

I just moved up to Waterloo, IA a few months back, but between work, trails, and getting my bike stolen, haven't ridden any street....went out cruising around on the road bike, and saw a few worth documenting:

Sweet curved wall, run-up isn't ideal but it's workable:

This is on the other side of the curved wall, might be fun to mess around on if it ever dries out (doubtful, haha, judging by the looks of it):

Not much of a rail guy myself, but this thing looks perfect:

Hopefully once I get my new bike built up I'll have a chance to session these before winter settles in....

I've ridden both of these spots, that bank covered place is amazing especially if you smash down the street and hit the big bank into the smaller one up top.. We rode there for at least 45 minutes and didn't get kicked out..

That whole area is amazing, there's a 10-12 stair near there, a ledge spot with a walkway gap, a bank/ledge thing Aitken gaps off of in some video and some "shapes" ledges.

Good shit.

It's in Market Harborough in Leicestershire. Used to be a crappy little rough bowl with bad transitions but it seems to have had a re-build.

Yeah where's that? Looks fun.

It's in a village called Bishops Tachbrook just outside of Leamington Spa. I think Kinchy posted it in this thread a few pages ago. It goes round the corner into a pretty fun berm section. Give us a shout if you're going, I will come for a ride if I'm about or direct you to the 4x track too (I think you ride that sort of thing?)

mellow bank to high spiky fence with a leccy box after it, swerve that for a rail hop! or has someone done it dan?

Nobody has done it yet and it's a pretty tight gap to get past the box but we reckon its do-able. None of us really ride street so we've pussied it.

^I don't blame you, that setup looks scary as fuck.  No room to hop, no room for error.

Ah Leamington Spa isn't too far, I'll let you know if I head over there any time soon. I love pump tracks and that sort of thing.

Went to that concrete park in Harborough earlier, it was fun but I really suck at riding bmx haha. First time I've actually ridden a bowl and just carving around that was really fun. The jump box thing is good as well, rounded lips so hanging up isn't a huge problem. Still suffering the same scooter epidemic as everywhere else though.

Years ago I heard about this old pool not too far from where I live but completely forgot about it until a couple of weeks ago. We were driving to this newish park and I remembered it was meant to be nearby. I contacted some of the older lads who used to ride it to get directions and they said it was full of water last time they went but we headed there tonight anyway. Hunted for a while, and found an abandoned house which was sketchy as shit and eventually found what we were looking for. As soon as we arrived we realised it was in a recent edit as well which explained why it was pretty clean. Spent about 30-40 minutes sweeping and shovelling some shit/dead pigeon out of it and it was ready to ride. Someone else has looked after it so were definitely gonna keep it properly on the downlow but it's proper cool to find it so close to home.

Edit - just realised the photo makes it look really mellow...you can carve and air out the too of it as the banks have a curve to them!

I finally rode that concrete park in Kettering the other day, it's good. I'm too crap a rider to make the most of it though, the jump box and a lot of the quarters have pretty steep and tall lips which I can't ride for shit. Some of the smaller stuff and the hafl bowl things are really fun though. I can see loads of good lines but I'm not a good enough rider to make the most of it. Harborough bowl is better for a crap rider like me.

This is a good idea cause you can share it easily. Make sure its unlisted though. I've been slowly mapping London spots, and unfortunately for everyone else, years of searching and 400+ photos of spots geotagged on my phone is a little too precious to give up to just anyone. ;) It becomes an obsession after a while.

Will do man!  Nothing really yet that falls into the awesome wall ride category, but I'll keep an eye out.  I actually ran into some guys riding street downtown on Sunday and one of them said he knows you.  I can't wait for the weather to get better.

I've been looking for the perfect little rail to get back comfortable trying stuff into and out of rails.  Looks like I may have found it:

this july i'm moving back to the san francisco bay area after 7 years of living in cleveland, so here's some gems i've found through various means that i plan on riding once i'm back. (http://i58.tinypic.com/16jrfdc.jpg) 3 of these just popped up in my hometown (napa, ca) since i've been living in cleveland. they're that nice smooth almost polished type of cement as is, plus the wax the skaters have added looks buttery. i'm gonna wax the fuck out of them and then i really want to left feeble to hop over right smith down one, and also feeble hard 180s seem easier on upward slant ledges so i'll bust my shit trying that i suppose.

i heard the older punk rock metalhead gnar dog skaters speak of this place in hushed whispers and almost got the invite once. before i saw photos of the place i was half convinced it was a full pipe and half convinced it was a place to get your dick sucked on the down low since the skaters were filthy and i wouldn't put it past them.

There's nothing wrong with writing on the Internet about a scarily realistic dream you had back in 2002, is there?
Title: Re: PAPOY Spot Finds
Post by: Bunky on February 28, 2014, 02:15:49 PM
I had this dream back in 2002.  I remember this because it was about 5 months after the WT attacks in NY.   We were watching a video at the skatepark, and a kids dad sees a fullpipe and says hey there's one of those off I-285.

We hurriedly went searching in the area he talked about and then found a giant drainage ditch that had about a 18-20ft tall fullpipe in it.  Unfortunately it had  about a foot and a half of water running through it.  We figured we'd just come back during the dry season, but then one of my buddies got the idea that we should walk through it and see if it led to anymore drainage pipes.  We didn't really think too much about where it might lead and decided to go on a trek through it.

This full pipe was probably about a quarter mile long and popped out into a big ditch that had another slightly smaller full pipe on the other side.  We walked through the smaller one for probably 3/4's of a mile, until we ran out of light and really counldn't see any further.

So we walked back to the ditch.  At which point one of my buddies decides his ankles hurt from walking through the pipe and that we should just climb out of the ditch and walk above ground back to where we parked.  We got to about the top of the ditch when we realized that we were somewhere we REALLY shouldn't be...  Especially considering the time frame mentioned above.  Ran down the ditch and ran back through the pipe and as we were exciting noticed all the security cameras around and got the hell out of dodge as fast as we could.  Another friend drove by about a half hour later to see security people all over the place.

If you take a look at google maps and look at Atlanta there's a really big thing down on the bottom near 285.  You seriously can't miss it.  Put 2 and 2 together.

It's not sketchy. Cross the river, park on the first right after the trailer park. Walk up the trail and have a way to get around some rocks (raft). If you go up the service road it's a little more sketchy as once in a while a dude will drive up. Once in all the times I've been I've seen a dude and he opened the gate a little while my friend was paddling over. The water rose 30" and moved a whole lot faster scaring the shit out of him.

If you go in spring, you might want to bring a bag of cat litter with you as well as a push broom and flat head shovel. Likely the remaining litter has washed away from rains and you'll need new shit to shovel in and dry it out as there is a constant trickle.

I will PayPal £20 to anyone who bothers to get their bike out to Varanasi for a picture sessioning this setup. You'll probably get attacked by angry stoned sadhus (holy men) but it'll be worth it!

Real talk - I reckon an ambitious crew could make a good edit in Delhi if they put the work in. Would require going at the right time of year (when it isn't too humid), spending at least two weeks in the city to scope out possibilities (there are no locals to act as guides but there definitely are spots around) and a lot of night filming/baksheesh to deal with police and security. Let's be honest this isn't going to happen...

Seems fucked that they would have a giant tunnel going into it just wide open. When you tried to go up, were you like on the pavement of the place? That would be freaky shit.

I don't get it
