Title: Madera pilot v1
Post by: PatchedTubes on September 20, 2011, 09:25:41 PM
i have the early version of the pilot front hub; my question is would the internals for the mini front hub fit in the v1 hubshell? the hardware on my front hub seen better days and i dont think they make the old hardware anymore. and in the cassette hub there were very thin shims behind the bearings (madera v2) their bent up now are these neccasary for the hub? i read on profile's site there just to compensate for the axles length.

Wrong section, this should be posted in the Bike Shop.

I put Profile internals in a friend's Graffiti Pilot shell, but I think there may have been a difference on the v1.  If the hub had shims, chances are it needed them and you should contact Profile for more.  Also, I believe there should be a shim/spacer between the driver and shell bearing - or the driver will rub the shell and the outer race of the bearing will bind.

would profile still make harware for the v1? i had feeling i need shims, they couldnt make it more difficult to get them though, they dont sell them on profile's site. i figure if the inside of the hubshell is the same size/ bearings seats that the mini hardware might fit.

What's wrong with the hub though?  Any Profile shims should fit, the hubs all use the same size bearing ID I believe.
