Title: blocking a site on firefox
Post by: blueee on November 15, 2007, 02:28:46 PM
i can only figure out how to block images form a site

i got some fucked up shit, i guess i must have gotten some spyware, and then the site it sends the info to mustve gotten shut down, so basically, everytime i open a page, or click a link, it sits there first off trying to contact the address dg.specificclick.net *i think* and then spends about a minute trying to contact that address, and when it finally gives up, as it would with a mistyped url, it brings up a window "failed to contact dg.specificclick.net" or some shit with an ok button, and then once i press ok, then the page i wanted to go to begins to load.

also how would i find out all the other sites my computer is sending info to everytime i click a link so i can block those sites also?

oh shit, move to computer help?

No way to really lock out the page completely with Firefox.

You could do it by editing the host file.

C:\windows\system32\hosts (no exe, txt or anything)
It shows how in the file.

We did that for a customer recently, rerouted Myspace to Yahoo to keep his kids off of it. I heard they were not amused. We also did it in the router to make sure no friends changed it.
