Title: What this is, and the rules.
Post by: sheepdog on April 03, 2007, 02:15:35 PM
This is for the announcement of new/available products, sales and site updates.

Basically, You better be announcing a product or a sale. At the very least a new, or hard to find part is back in stock. Otherwise, I better not see it.

It is for you to place a notice of this happening, not to simply spam it saying "hey, we carry_____" or "come check us out". Doing so may get you blocked from posting here. You want to blatantly advertise, buy an ad.

This is being done as a favor to you, do not abuse it.
Announcing you exist, is not news.

Please make sure a thread has not already been created regarding this product or it will be deleted.

What about the smaller "T-Shirt" companies... are they allowed to post here, maybe a link to where their products can be purchased... news and such?

If it is news, yes.
If it is "check us out", no.

It is not free advertising, it is a way to let people know you have something new or special. Just existing, IS NOT news.

i'm not a big fan of the idea. less people will check this so stuff wont get discussed as much and people wont see it. we will have to delete a ton of check it out posts. and it's another thing i have to check. i think we should just let the bike shop work for this, it has worked fine in the past.

Threads should ONLY be created by employees of the company.
I do not want everyone adding every sale they happen to find. You can reply, but do not create threads.

I thought that would be pretty obvious when it clearly states FOR MANUFACTURERS, SHOPS, and DISTRIBUTORS.

Hypothetically lets say I start up a... mailorder company... since the company is new would it not be news to say "hey we exist check us out!"

Does "employees" count as sponsored riders too?  Or do you mean actually on a payroll?

NO!
How many kids on here have said "Me and a buddy are startinga  t-shirt company".

You existing is not news.

Unless you are having a sale or something that actually exists, then I do not want or need to know about you. Mean maybe, but for a while there was a new batch of kids almost daily claiming they were starting a clothing company.

If you are just starting and want an announcement, hold a sale, and announce that.
Otherwise, you are just another fly-by-night operation.

And you better have a website, and a good domain name, not a .tk or CJB.net domain name. One you actually have to pay for (a tld domain).
If you want to be taken seriously, take your website and promotion seriously.

Actually on a payroll.
As a sponsored rider (non-pro) you represent them to the public, but you have no say about the company and cannot deal with a complaint or anything.

Updated and modified.
Anyone can post, just make sure it is not a re-post.

Otherwise, I think this has worked out well.
