It has come to my attention that some of you are annoyed with recent thread deletes so I figured it would be a good time to let people know a bit more about how we operate.
We do over 1800 edits per month just on threads and posts, this does not take into problems with your accounts, Pm's, bans, or anything else we deal with on a daily basis, that is JUST editing and deleting. Typically the better we do, the less you notice.
We have some new people, they may be a little trigger happy. Personally, I am glad they are, it helps make up for any slacking the older ones may have been doing, including myself. We needed fresh people to push things back to how they need to be.
If a thread disappears there was a good reason for it. It may not have fit with Bg, may have been a bit graphic, or it may have just been lame.
We do what we do to make this place more enjoyable for everyone, including ourselves. Being a staff member is work, it may be a labor of love, it may even be fun, but it is still work.
Bg is run similar to King Arthurs Court. When a major decision needs to be made, they are involved as I can allow them to be. I give the staff the ability to have free reign in terms of how Bg should be ran and they in turn give the site direction. I stand behind whatever they decide, and it is pretty rare when a decision is overturned, when they do, there is usually extenuating circumstances. Don't come crying to me expecting me to change things.
Point is, we spend a lot of time cleaning this place up, we do not need to spend more time constantly explaining WHY we did what we did.
We would rather spend our time enjoying the site just like you do.

A quick and simple PM notifying the offender why the thread was deleted would help prevent future problems. Possibly saving time in the long run.
Of course, if someone goatse bombed the place it'd be obvious why the thread was mopped up.

I sent pm's for about the first 10-15 threads I deleted and quickly realized it was a waste of time. I was truly amazed at the amount of stuff removed from here regularly. Today, and ive only been on for a little bit, Ive had to delete about 6 or 7 threads. If the figures are 1800 a month, thats 60 per day for a 30 day month. Most of the time people know what they did wrong.
As sheep said, a few of us are new to this so give it a minute. I can tell you that I do give more discretion to those I feel contribute to the board and I would let them know if I deleted anything of theirs. You also have to understand that when I did PM the first 10-15 people, I had to explain things to them through 4 or 5 subsequent PM's and Im not doing that all day. It will all even out.

Exactly.
They want to discuss it, debate, bribe, bitch and moan.
It can take 10 seconds to delete a thread, but you could spend hours with the cleanup. Not worth it.
If you read the rules and have a little common sense before hitting send on the first thought that enters your mind, we would not even need to delete it in the first place.
-
I honestly wouldn't care if anything I posted was deleted. I mean I'm not gonna go and waste my time on some shitty thread, and if the thought even would cross my mind that it might be deleted, then thats knowledge enough.
Keep it up mangs!
-
I never understand why people do so much bitching about edits/deletes. If a Mod is willing to spend the time to get rid of your shitty posts to help clean up the site for everyone else then the least you can do is suffer in silence. It's the internet, chill guys.
-
Good, I'm glad they do it. I get sick of seeing this place get so cluttered with shitty threads. It sucks that you all have to go through and do all this work, it would just be nice if people would think before they hit that make thread button.
-
We're just pushing you people to think of more entertaining material.

My threesome thread had 3 pages in like 45 minutes and it got deleted :(

Complaining in a thread about people complaining doesn't sound like a very good idea. Let it go.

*BG chant*

If we delete something, there's a reason for it.
More often than not, if you stop to think about it, you'll eventually realize why it was deleted. If you don't realize why it was deleted, don't worry about it.
-
Bikeguide has been changing a lot even ever since i joined, which is not too long ago.
-
Just be happy it's better than it was 3-4ish months ago
-
I am not PM'ing anyone as to why I deleted a thread!
That shit takes too long. If your thread got deleted, get over it. It sucked.

The Anal Sex Thread was pure gold.
So bummed that it dissapeared.
Sheep keeps talking about using Google, but there's no better source than a first hand account from someone around the same age.

I'm just stoked to see east and west Canada represented well.

Actually there is.
Someone who knows what they are doing is better advice.
Getting it from someone who has done it once maybe twice is about the worst place for advice.
