Same. Someone posted a picture of a Casket stem on a certain Facebook group the other week and several middle aged men proceeded to cream over it. Those stems sucked 12 years ago, they don't get better with age.

The "carbon gripper" stuff? That is fine to have in there. It has little bits of something in there so you don't have to torque the parts as much and they will still grip. My Chinese post that came with the frame had some texture on it already, though, you would be able to get away without using the paste if yours is the same.
