Apparently he shot himself in the head....what the fuck

I was just about to post this! what the fuck man, why do legends always have to kill themselves?
-
Also was just about to post this. Dreadful, did so much for the sport, icon and legend. Thoughts go out to the two kids and wife.
-
That's nuts. Didn't seem like the type you know?
-
Sad.
But, anyone ever watch road fools 9. Rick moliterno and the guys having one long shit talk fest about mirra. everyone always made fun of him for being the x games poster boy. Would wear on one after awhile.
People were ripping hard on him a few months back when he did the video with his son and wrecked on the little dirt jump. Always seemed like he got ripped on just for being Dave Mirra
-

no one ever seems like the type, hard times hit hard. With Collin it was his partner leaving him, could it be the same in this case?
-
He's got a wife and two kids no? Fucked up.
-
yeah he hashtagged "be a dad not a fad" on his insta a lot, seems like doing this is the opposite of that
he was super competative though, after winning a shit load of bmx comps he switched to rally, then triathalon, i imagine he put a lot of pressure on himself to compete and push himself as hard as he could, maybe he just cracked under the pressure and felt he wasnt living up to his own expectations. maybe
whatever the reason, sucks he was in the place where he felt like suicide was the only way out. RIP Miracle Boy

So sad, especially for his kids.
-
Wow, he was a huge inspiration to myself and I'm sure most people on this board. RIP.
-
He posted 2 photos on Instagram earlier in the day. Still in shock. RIP.
-
It's strange to think how I never considered him my favorite rider. Even back when I first got into bmx, I liked Nyquist more. But after all of the time I spent on his games, all of the exposure he's given to bmx, the overall clean-cut and dedicated image he had while representing bmx, there's no reason he shouldn't be one of everyone's favorite riders.
If he's riding in heaven, if there is a heaven, I hope he has huge Slim Jim stickers on his wings.
-
Dave Mirra was the reason I got into BMX. RIP
-
I remember working my ass off one summer for his bars.
-
I loved how he was able to be pretty competitive on different aspects of BMX. Vert and ramp and even dirt.
Such a shame for his family. Dude seemed pretty cool.
Was deffo a guy I looked up to when I was Grom and all we had was BMX plus
-
The man was like Mr Positivity all around. Amazing athlete and one of my idols growing up. I'll be breaking out the gamecube for some Dave Mirra Pro BMX 2.
-
RIP Dave. Dude was a huge inspiration when I first started riding.
-
I wonder to what degree (if any) TBIs had.
-
I wonder to what degree (if any) TBIs had.
Hopefully they check him for CTE.
-
Unfortunately, I predict that to be very very VERY hard.
-
Ah, yes... I didn't really think that one through.
-
So tragic. Genuinely left me with a pit in my stomach with him being such a childhood hero.
RIP Dave. Your legacy will always remain.
-
this is horrible news. he seemed to be the happiest, most positive man alive.
-
What a tragedy. RIP.
This is really sad news.
-
Absolutely brutal news.
RIP.
-
He was an idol to me growing up riding. Played his games and loved his Fox vid parts and contest runs.
He seemed bit too competitive as some said. Not sure what he actually did as a job in the later parts of his life.
-
well fuck
-
RIP Matt.
???
-
Terrible news & my love goes out to his family.
The loss of two, 2 wheeled legends in 1 week is sad :(
-
My first bike was a Mirra 540 Air in the early 2000's. I always thought of Mirra as a legend, on par with Hoffman, Nyquist and the other big names of that era.
Really sad to see him go. I can't even imagine how shitty life must have been for him to end it like that. I bet it was something like CTE but we will never know, which is unfortunate because we obviously need to do a lot more research on the subject.
2016 has been fucking shitty so far.
-
He definitely is one of the greatest there ever was.
-
Still hoping this is a lie somehow. He influenced me so much i had to have a haro and indeed my first bike wad a haro backtrail x2 with gyro and u brakes. Not as bad as mirras top of the línea but still good enough to be a haro. Dave mirra was synonym of haro bikes and haro led the market as dave was on his prime. Can tell why moliterno ripped so bad on him. Dave mirra was indeed no god and can hope e/o struggling take this as a last miracle from the miracle boy. R.I.P. Dave Mirra your life was indeed a miracle to a lot of us.
-
This is such a massive bummer. Mental health, man.
-
RIP. Good photo feature on Dig. http://digbmx.com/photo-ops/dave-mirra-in-memory

Here's a classic battle between Jay Miron and Dave Mirra at the 2001 X-Games.
Classic Mirra right there.

The people selling these shirts are ghouls profiting off Dave Mirra's death. Complete scumbags. I emailed save.org - a legitimate organization dedicated to suicide prevention who is mentioned as the beneficiary - and they know nothing about this.
I also called teechip dot com and they seem to make it a lot harder to report fraud than to commit it. Feel free to let them know as I have at copyright@teechip.com. This needs to come down.

I saw that on youtube. Miron gets crushed! It was cringe worthy. Definitely made Jay look like a complete amateur compared to Dave.

???
Oops! I must've been thinking about a buddy of mine while I was typing that out as he went out in a very similar fashion.
Suicide sucks.

What is that about?

I made a shirt with their name. Money for Ed.
Growing up I had a really close rider friend who sweat Ed. He was this half Colombian kid named Dave and he did all the hard tricks when we were kid like hop bars, xup feebles, 180 feebles on the crappiest ledges when we were like 14. I remember this local guy Bert sold him an old Ed frame and he was so stoked. Then one day he just kind of randomly passed away. I saw some people were raising money and I was like why not.
