last flight i wrapped my bike in a beach blanket and algae covered rope. worked one way, but mexican airport made me pay $25 to saran wrap on the way home

why would it shrink this image so far down?

10minutes to take apart bike
10 minutes to smash bikeframe into backpack and start wrapping it up
another 20 minutes to realize i could/should pack it way tighter
another 20 minutes of wrapping twine and clothes around it
another 20 minutes questioning whether im going to make it home with my bike
*
15 minutes unpacking
15minutes re-assembling bike

idk. i went to mexico 9months ago. i got real comfortable
up and coming bmx scene
i was really cautious and polite there
near the end of my trip, i buy dinner for a bunch of the young lil shits who found me some pot
after eating, i spot a taco stand and start pedaling towards it when my buddy stops me "no, es carne de los enformos"
which translates to 'meat of the ill'
im shocked, stunned, near petrified when i spot a wallride on someones house and start pedaling there
"something something in spanish"
which translates to 'not that way, they kill people over there, c'mon lets get the fuck out of here' and we then haul ass uphill on my bad knee after already pedaling a whole 4miles

yeah, im just scared ima get too comfotrtable and do somemthing stupid OR spend the time overly paranoid and which will irritate everyone around me

advice, anyone?

fuckers kept asking me what's in my bag. pretty sure they ~wanted~ to charge me. 'tools,' I said. when I arrived at my destination I once again gave that answer and the dude was like "you know you can't just bring them there tools, you know the rules, that's why you loaded your luggage yourself, don't do that again, you only s'pose to bring clothes on here" uhhh I loaded my bag myself because I wasn't about to walk away from my bike/luggage just sitting there on the sidewalk

most buses I've taken, Vietnamese bus, sf-commuter bus and even bolt bus (owned by greyhound) let me just throw my bike and big framed backpack in one of the spaces under the bus, no hassle. seems like greyhound have same rules about luggage as airplanes, and the one time I rode them, they sucked and kicked me off. well has anyone just shown up with their complete assembled bike and luggage and not been given shit for it? they say only one piece of luggage so I have to break down my bike, wrap it in a towel and tape and throw all my clothes and shit in there too, really annoying, has anyone shown up with a bike and luggage and not been hassled or charged extra for it?

if I just broke it down to wheels ulocked to the frame would they give me shit for not having it wrapped up? anyone have positive experience with bikes and greyhound?

where in Mexico are you? is it safe? I'm paranoid as fuck cause I'm going with a cute blonde wooo girl and even brown me looks totally out of place. people arent getting super desperate with the peso gone so far down, are they??

we want to drive down the peninsula then head east toward Mexico city where she knows people. I have family in Zacatecas, great riding scene there and a couple hours away in Guadalajara

If you made under a certain amount you don't have to file in that state. I don't know how much you made in those three months but usually it's like if you made under like $15,000 you don't have to file. It varies from state to state so don't hold that near and dear.
i hope there is some truth to this, because i didnt make half that amount

tons of great spots and theres young shredders eager to go ride and its super cheap!
anyone wanna meet me down there and ride for a month or three? roundtrip tickets are cheap right now!
everything is rediculously cheap, you can live quite comfortably on $15/day
the street there is amazing, 3 foot high sidewalk curbs, and handicap ramps that go to vert, rails of all sorts of sizes and sketchyness and easyness! and  ledges, gaps and wallrides to hillbombs everywhere!
