Title: bending hub flanges back?
Post by: meathead on December 12, 2016, 11:54:14 AM
Right i have a slight problem!
I've kinda bent the flange on my Profile SS shell and was wondering is there a "safe" way to bend the flange back? also is there any gaurds that fully cover the flange on the ss? my BSD dont seem to be big enough

now to wait 30 years for a reply! cheers

I'd be careful about bending profile flanges. I was wallriding a bench and my wheel fell into the seat slates. Instead of tweaking the rim or ripping spokes, my flange on my SS ripped off.

Just do it carefully. Maybe heat it up?

Do NOT bend aluminium back. It will break.

I had a Profile Mini on a wheel that a skateboard rolled into the spokes of. Ripped 2 holes straight out of the flange. Hub had never seen a grind and Profile wanted me to ship it to them, pay $55 for a new shell, and pay return shipping. Profile flanges are weak as hell.

managed to get it to a ..... usable state? turns out  where the spokes have bedded into the hub i need to lace it in a certain way if that makes sense
