Title: new wheelset choices
Post by: blueee on November 27, 2014, 04:00:53 PM
I already have the antigram and marmoset*
marmoset - regular spokes - alienation deviant rim
antigram - regular spokes - odsy quadrant rim
will cost me $70
in shit colors

marmoset - db spokes - sun envy lite rim
antigram - db spokes - odsy birdcage rim
will cost me $160
in the colors i want

ummm....
which would you trust more? a deviant or a sun envy lite?
will a 2.25 tire fit on a 1.5 rim just fine? cuase i have a shitload of 2.25 microknobbies but theyre super wide and slow and i would like to thin them up on the 1.5in envy lite

Are you buying these used or new? Getting a good deal is cool but getting the shit you want is pretty awesome too.

brand new

insane sales on danscomp right now
i went with the birdcage and envy lite cuase i found a 20% off coupon on a danscomp  catalog i dug out the trash
antigrams for $90, just gonna have to buy the aluminum axle seperate.
ive been holding off buying a new stem 3 years now cuase i dont want to pay 60 for the shadow stem ive been eyeing.
well bam it fucking finaly fucking went on fucking sale for fucking twenty fucking dollars, gonna replace the primopro stem i bought almost ten years ago on sale for twenty dollars off danscomp, haha
just bought a tire about a week ago, decided i like it, and then see it on sale for half off so i bought another :p
i bought a variety of $2 grips

even though i just relaced my 48h ratchet to my old ribcage, im thinking of relacing it to this 5dollar big city lite i just bought and dropping the rotating rim weight down by about 4oz
1. hoping the spoke size is the same, even though i already bought the rim
2. gonna have to reuse the $20 spokes i just bought and laced up :o

Remember triple walled rims? Crazy. Do they even make those any more?

Birdcage, boss up whenever you have the chance.

Colors is everythings too.

the quadrant seems like a poor  option for a rear rim, maybe other options in the same price range would be the big city or a envy rim. Idk why i would like to ride a sun envy lite at front and a normal envy in the back. I always like the feeling of sturdy wheels tho. can't stand flimsy one wall rims. not even in the front.

If you had to choose between the deviant and the sun envy, envy all day ! Eyelets alone are a bonus...

eyelets suck, the pop out and then the hole thats left behind is too big for the inside of the nipple to get any decent contact so the hole will get fucked up anyway

Never had that problem with my Sun rims and been running them for around 4 - 5 years, had city lites, envys and rhyno's, guess some people are just unlucky.

Edit: You can also re install new eyelets.

If you decide to go with the Envy make sure to get the welded version instead of pinned.
