It looks pretty cool.
-
that trailer fuckin sucked ass. horrible.
ill still probably go see it even though i haven't watched a movie in theaters since ??? years ago
-
How is it horrible?
I'm probably the most jaded super fan of Star Wars I know and I loved it.
-
I really, really, really hope it isn't like the last couple.
-
That looked so Disney that it hurt.
-
I'm glad I'm not a Star Wars fan...
-
No JJ Abrams movie is complete without the god damn mother fucking trip the light fanfuckingtastic lens flare!!!!
Black dude out in the desert in uniform - sweaty, disheveled.
White chick dressed in low key rags and possible being chased - Perfect makeup, not a bead of sweat.

i think 'black dude' (john boyega) is supposed to be scared and on the run, rumours were that his character made some bad choices and is now regretting them. also stormtrooper gear would definitely be sweatier than desert people gear.
you should be more pissed at the people getting arsey that the first person seen in the star wars trailer is a black guy.
-
I dont see colour that way?
-
I like the new light sabre.
Needs mor jar jar binks....
-
I want to believe this is a big prank but the production quality looks too high
-
I'm more excited to see a trailer for Batman V. Superman dawn of justice.
-
Some of yall are trying too hard. If the previous star wars didnt exist and you saw this, youd think it was tight.
-
I've not watched Star Wars before and this isn't making me want to start
-
Looks tight as balls. The x wings getting low and fast was all I needed to see. The new light sabre blade looks sick. The closing scene of the trailer looked awesome.
-
I'm a Star Wars nerd, and I am stoked. I know it won't be the same as the original trilogy, but it already bodes to be better than the 3 prequels.
For a teaser trailer I am definitely teased. Cool rolling ball droid. New light saber. Refined X-wings. Motherfucking Millennium Falcon. Fuck yes to all of it.
-
We need more pretentious comments. I know you guys have more than that.
-
This does not interest me. I don't really give a damn about any Star Wars, though.
-
Pop culture fail
-
so how about that Jurassic Park trailer? looks so good.
-
so how about that Jurassic Park trailer? looks so good.
I liked it but something about dinosaur hybrids just seem corny to me.
-
ugh it looks shit. It just feels too plastic.
-
So fucking excited. Not a JJ fan but as long as there is continuity and canon I will love it.
-
I'll definitely see it. I'm kind of a Star Wars nerd, but not enough to really get too fired up about old vs new stuff. I predict I'll end up really liking the new movie, whenever it come out.
-
I'll see it
-
Pretty pumped. As long as it's better than 1-3, I'll be happy. I know it won't touch how good 4-6 were though.

i reckon jj will do a good job, it'll be pacey

Mr Ackbar, I know you think it sucked. Someone fixed that for you though.

Looks like everyone is trying really hard not to like this, to seem like they are more of a fan of Star Wars than everyone else.
Too bad it's not shit and this has huge OG trilogy fans (like me) super pumped.
Lens flare hate is especially harsh, as there was only one instance of it and it actually worked.
-
I think I almost like the clone wars series better than the 4-6 trilogy.
Should be really fun to see what misadventures R2 and 3PO get into!
-
I think the trailer looks awesome and I am excited.
-
Killseth hates everything this is a big deal guys.
-
I think I almost like the clone wars series better than the 4-6 trilogy.
Interesting. Cant remember the last time I heard someone say that about the newer movies. Any specific reason?
-
The cartoon series. Not 1-3. Though I do love the downfall of Anikin. He could've been a better actor whatever. He pulls Natalie Portman and is a Jedi, that's nice nice. Then shit goes completely wrong. Yea, that shit is rad.
You know what? Fucking motherfucker Mark Hamal whatever his spelling is, that dude is ducking cornball too. Motherfucking racing Anikin? Spitting image of young Luke Skywalker.
-
Hayden Christensen is a terrible actor and totally kills 2 and 3 in my opinion. I don't consider them watchable.
-

I love the story but I cringe every time Hayden Christiansen opens his mouth. His lines are poorly written and his shitty acting doesn't help the situation at all.

Ah, gotcha. Apparently my reading comprehension isn't quite as good as I thought.

Dont like the filming style.

You mean this one I hope, because I'd argue it's the best Star Wars related watching to date. Outside of ESB of course.

Not what I was referring to, but I did really like that. There was a scene were Windu takes a whole mess of droids apart bolt by bolt using the force. The netflix/cartoon network series.
-
I only made it past the third episode. It's too childish for my tastes I guess. That scene with Windu is epic.
-
Fuck, I like Star Wars because it's childish. Watch fucking Star Trek if you're into grown up shit.
-
Yeah or star gate
-
Fuck, I like Star Wars because it's childish. Watch fucking Star Trek if you're into grown up shit.
He's a bit of a snob, OK?
PS, how is the cartoon? Is it a new storyline?
-
The cartoon is all about the war between the republic and the separatists. It shows personality and depth the clones. There are a bunch of insignificant encounters of worlds you haven't heard from and there are others like the Dathomir witches. That species where Darth Maul is from. It all seems canon and is worth it to me to get into the little intricacies. Plus, Anakin is not the forced emotional moniker ep II and III are.
Then, there is the new one; Star Wars Rebels. That, I have no clue of.
-
looks to me like theyve made a totally different feeling Star Wars than any other judging from the trailer. It looks like the equivalant of a much darker reboot like the Christian Bale version of Batman.
-
Hey, I still watch old shows from my childhood, don't get me wrong. I just feel the original Clone Wars show is 100000000000000000000000 X better than the episodes of the newer one I managed to get through. They can tell a great story with no dialogue and don't have that lame 1930's announcer doing narration. It's probably the whole Samurai Jack feeling the series has that I love so much.
Also, I like having contact with females so I'll pass on Star Trek.
My girlfriend actually loves Star Trek.
-
I have a feeling this is going to be a big disappointment, but I hope not. I thought the cartoon was gonna be horrible too but I loved it. Still can't beat the books though.
-
Thrawn Trilogy is no longer cannon, which sucks.
-
Sad fact: The first time I saw this trailer, I turned it off when the stormtrooper's head popped up, because the look on his face is so fucking goofy that I figured that it had to be a parody.
edit: The goddamn soccer ball droid didn't help.

trailer #2

Yes yes yes.
-
Anyone see the Rogue One teaser leak? I think dudes that were involved with Saving Private Ryan and Band of Brothers are attached to it. So, if that's any indication that this will be a war film set in the Star Wars universe, that will be fucking amazing.
-
So excited about the Force awakens!
Never heard about Rogue one until now, but that sounds awesome too!
-
Today is the day for the new trailer.
Oh, and ticket pre-sales.
I'M FUCKING HYPED.
-
I'm pretty keen for Battlefront on PS4, that's about the extent of my Star Wars hype right now.

Why is there a non Boba clone? Why aren't there anymore Jedi? Luke isn't around but Han is?
-
Why is there a non Boba clone? Why aren't there anymore Jedi? Luke isn't around but Han is?
Clones aged faster than a normal person. By the time of A New Hope almost all of the clones had died off and were replaced with Volunteers and draftees.
Jedi were mostly wiped out after Order 66 in Revenge of the Sith. Those that survied went into hiding.
Luke is in the trailer, he's the dude with R2. They're saving the real reveal for the movie.
-
Do you think the Caminoans stopped cloning after Revenge of the Sith? Because between order 66 and this is the equivalent of Luke's lifespan. If that's true, let's say that a clone's life is n/2 where n=average life of a Mandalorian, then we can assume that at the end of A New Hope the Caminoans would have had had produced another population. This seems logical because if the whole population of clones died from age, they would have to have the next series immediately ready. Having separate populations of clones ready at the half life of their previous series allows the stability of the clone army. Knowing this, either they all dropped dead after discovering Ewoks or a second populace was ready when Luke was still bragging to Ben about shooting womp rats. If that's true, then that motherfucker in the trailer is a damn mutant. Mandalorians ain't got no time to compromise their unit with dam mutants.
-
I don't care about the origins of the First Order troops. I wanna know about the new death star(snow planet) that popped up on 30 years.
-

I think the in canon reason is that Kaminoans just ran out of Jango DNA by the time the Clone Wars ended. I think I read that by the time of ANH about 5% of the storm troopers were clones. So, that mother fucker: Not a mutant.
I think in one of the Battlefront games Kamino created another clone army, but because of the new authoritarian rule they altered something in the DNA so the clones had complete loyalty to Kamino instead of the Empire. In response, the Empire sent veteran Clone Troopers (now Stormtroopers) to stamp out these new untested Clones. Once that was taken care of, Palpatine experimented with other DNA sources, but they never lived up to the original clones, so eventually they were fazed out.
But I'm not sure if the old Battlefront games are canon.
-
DNA running out... Like they only had enough to base 1m clones?
-
DNA running out... Like they only had enough to base 1m clones?
I guess, I'm second guessing that that is the canon reason. But I do know they stopped using clones.
This dude kind of touches on it.

Just nice to see a trailer that isn't a summary of the entire film.

More interested to see if like is wearing the mask or not

Just got my tickets with some left over movie gift cards. Cost me $3 for the Wife and I.

Today's trailer is weird
Just curious, what do you mean?
Pardon the late reply, I've been trying to put my finger on exactly what gives me that vibe about the trailer. I am looking forward to it for sure, and in context of the whole movie I probably won't get the same vibe the trailer does.
I still find pink, internal glow-engined X Wings to look weird (they are very clearly red with external corona in my VHS's of the OT), and lots of stuff on screen feels foreign, but if the pacing is fine then those things really don't bother me, even if they feel alien, like the PT did. In a short trailer though, they might be contributing to my feels, although I think it's something other than that too
Sorry for vagueness, but I didn't want to leave you hanging
And yes every couple years when I feel like watching Star Wars again I watch it on VHS

Man, people are dumb as shit.

Suprised this thread hasn't popped up by now. I can't be the only nerd here who has seen the movie already.
-
I haven't either. My agoraphobia is more an issue of my midichloriaphilic tendencies.

Kylo Ren = fuckboy
-
Kylo Ren = fuckboy
This.
I'm hoping they shape him up to a fine villain in the following sequels.
-
I see him as a bullied teen ready to shoot up his school. I enjoyed him as an early villain, tantrums and all. From how it looks now I can see him being a very good villain.
Also,

Fuck I am ruined by a writ I read about Abrams rehashing the same shit. Rey is Luke. Finn is Han. Bb-88 is R2D2. The shit the droid is carrying is Leia's message to Obi-wan.
I think TFA is the 2nd worst in the franchise.
Did anyone watch the Clone Wars cartoon series? There is an episode were Anakin, his padawan and Obi Wan are pulled to some crazy shit in the outer rim. Turns out to be super force family of a father, a daughter (who is light) and a son (who is dark). I wonder if Snoke is that character.
-
It seemed like every fourth clip was some reference to the older movies outside the plot and all.
Rey = Obi Wan's child maybee...
-
Nah, Obi Wan was abstinent gay. Remember Anakin's mom, Schmi, had other kids. The family Luke was descended from? She's gotta be some fucked up desert cousin inbreeding.

I see this argument often, and while I do understand that there are similarities, they aren't large enough that I'm bothered by them even a little bit.
They wanted to make something that had the feeling of the original trilogy, and this accomplishes that. They took aspects from all three originals and brought them into the new trilogy, it works without feeling like they just hired new actors to remake ANH.
Now, in the next movie, they can stray from that, and it will feel more like a natural progression from Jedi, instead of being completely different right off the bat, and then everyone is bitching because "it should have been more like the originals!!"
Also, Kylo Ren as a character was pretty much perfect. He's exactly what Anakin should have been in the prequels. He's a young, pissed off teenager who is struggling to find his place. Now that he's had his ass handed to him and taught a lesson, we are left to wonder if he's going to come back stronger after removing his call to the light, or freak out and go on a murderous rampage at a moment's notice. This is what you want in him as a villain, the unexpected. You don't know what will happen from one second to the next because he is so unstable.
-

I'm not following your inbreeding theory, Anakin had no father, and his family tree went Schmi>Anakin/Padme>Luke. Not a whole lot of room for anything, since only Luke and Leia were the only ones alive from that entire family.
I believe his Uncle Owen was the only other child Schmi had. He wasn't force sensitive, and also died without having any children, so I doubt Rey is any relation to that side of the family unless she is Luke's direct offspring.
-
They wanted to make something that had the feeling of the original trilogy, and this accomplishes that.
I wanna say JJ Abrams really pushed the whole 'Rey Skywalker' thing a bit too much on purpose to mislead people cause if they're gonna follow the trilogy then there has to some big shocking reveal similar to Vader 'I am your father' dealio. It's gonna be harder to shock your audience unless a second time unless you mislead them to thinking something else. It's obvious that Rey's origins will play a big deal.

Uncle Owen had a side piece at Mos Eisley. Which turned out to be Schmi's sister. Were the elevated midichlorian levels were recessive on both Schmi's sister and her Nephew, Owen their progeny would have dominant recessive genes for elevated midichlorian levels.
The Organa family knew about this and sent her away to Jakku to protect her from that diddler Luke. If he diddled Rey, can you imagine the force sensitive mutant?!
-
Only seen the new flick once, want to see it again
-
The wife and I saw it again, this time at a drive-in. Was pretty cool experience for my first drive-in.
As far as, Rey origins, I think she's Obi Wan's grand daughter/Luke's daughter.
-
https://youtu.be/YbaliPyihCY
If you got a minute, this video brings up some good points on why they had to rehash some things from the OT
-
Kylo Ren falls in love with Rey.
you guys see the snoke/vader compariosons?
-
After seeing the film, everyone says she is Luke's Grandaughter, I think it is more plausible that she is Obi-Wan's, especially with the whole jedi mind trick scenes.
-

It's ~30 years since the death of Anakin. The math in the thought of a 20 year old being a grand daughter to Luke looks worse than the Skywalker inbreeding royalty theory and is revoluting.
As for the Snoke Vader theory, that would be fucking sweet if the First Order was using an Anakin hologram to deceive and control. Unfortunately, Kylo was going to complete training with him so...
Darth Plagius or the weird shit from Clone Wars of Mortis. http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Mortis

I feel as if the huge climactic death scene was the "I am your Father" shocker.
