I'm sure a few of you have some tears of joy...
-
its a tossup between this and an STA
-
oh la la!
-
Please have a 11.5 bb.
-
Missing the beer can headtube and welded mounts.
-
Custom angel of death come at me. Or angel looks cross with the hardway specs
-
Please have a 11.5 bb.

-
Would be cool to see this thing in short and long sizes.

That's close enough! Can't wait to retire my frame.
-
If it had modern geo I'd be into it. Wanted one ever since it was listed as Butchers bike on Mat Hoffman Pro BMX 2.
-
I like the idea of this, but removable brake mounts are the fucking worst.

I'm sure fbm could do one with welded mounts?
-
People shouldn't have to ask for welded mounts.

Don't you even dare hypothetical green box Borklynrider.
-
I think that possibly outside of bikeguide, a lot of people might want removable mounts.
Shit, I want removable mounts. I'm flakey like that. Sometimes I want brakes, other times I don't.

He earned it, despite his past misgivings.
While I personally don't hate FBM's removable mounts (I was able to get the ones on my T-1 to feel great with some Teflon tape and better bolts) the market for an AOD will probably prefer welded mounts.
-
what style mounts do fbm use? the s&m style ones with the really long bolt are good. the ones where the mount screws in first then the brake screws into the mount are not so good
-
I don't want brakes on my fantasy Angel of Death.

They are similar. The base is curved to match the CS tube, and there is a long bolt that runs through it that also tightens the brake spring cap. I got higher grade bolts that were coated (phosphate?), then Teflon taped the threads and the shank of the bolt inside the mount. Those changes seemed to take out some of the flex and now they feel great.
-
yeah thats what i have, theyre fine (even though one of the bolts has bent very slightly).
-
Is there actually a structural benefit of that TT/CS junction design?
-
You mean a wishbone versus A-frame style?
-
You mean a wishbone versus A-frame style?
Yes. BGing at work limits my brainpower. Sorry.
-
I wonder what the geo is going to be? Looks like it's got a short rear end, which would be perfect for the types of dudes I think will buy this frame.
-

My Barcode is noticably stiffer than my ATF. It was really weird at first.
-
Is there actually a structural benefit of that TT/CS junction design?
Very much yes.
-
According to one esteemed frame builder, the wishbone is actually a stiffer design. Not sure what the difference in weight is though.

FBM destroying without mercy to benefit the Aryan race or something?!???!?

Plus welded mounts
-
welded mounts might be an option, that's too short of a rear end. get a hardway if that's what you're looking for
-
Sounds like you get your "hard on" from barking out commands.... ;D
Pretty stoked on this happening. That isn't my cup of tea on geometry. But I am stoked it is still getting made.
-
i just found out ive got some more work coming up real soon so pulled the trigger on one of these. been wanting to try a slightly longer back end again for a bit, so should be sweet.
-
Will of soon hand.
-
for some reason my internet wont load the link
I like fbm shit.
I have nothing important to add to the thread
-
Putting plants up on eBay to raise some dollars for a frame fork.
-
I'm pretty sure I'm going to be ordering one of these. I had the original AOD 10 years ago when I first started riding. It was my first "real" aftermarket frame. Stoked as hell they're re-releasing it and the geometry is pretty much fine with me. I'm not super picky about geometry, as long as it's not anything extreme like a super short or super long backend or some super steep or super mellow head tube angle. I'm actually going to call FBM to see if they'll make one with welded CS guards (like the old T-1 Byrnes Barcodes and 1st gen SFA). If they could that would pretty much seal the deal for me.
-
I'm gonna get one of these to put next to my Barcode and not ride. Can't wait.
-
stoked fbm is doing this one again. hell of a revival!
i'm not really digging the looks of the ass end of it though. the diameter of the stays look too small for the toptube junction. wish they would of used a bit bigger tubing... would look more proportionate.
even so, iconic frame and re-release.

FBM destroying without mercy to benefit the Aryan race or something?!???!?
pretty sure no one else got that ;)
anyone heard when these will be sent out? meant to have been november , then december and ive still not heard anything?
-
Some guys on bmxmuseum have theirs already so im not sure, they were pre-order though if i remember.
-
mother fuckers , im hoping they aren't from England if so that's just a complete pisstake
-
if you go in the catchall of bmx on the bmx museum forum there is a massive thread for meltons cycles im sure thats the guy who has some of them.
-
ive already ordered one from radbmxshop but noone , even crandal for that matter, knows what is going on :o
-
maybe they had to do two batches? paint time turnover problems? i know saw pics of a bunch of welded up frames and a complete or two on fbms instag
-
Circuit bmx had two - 21 and 20.75
-
Someone post some pictures in here. I didn't see the BMX Museum forum post, but I didn't really look super hard.
-
Empires site said early jan last time I looked.
I haven't heard anything for a while except to triple check the custom rubbish I wanted and that was early Nov
-
they were building them in batches. most have shipped out, the rest are at paint and should be done by next week
-
I ordered a black 21" with welded brake mounts. So stoked to get it built up.

-
So how many AoD's have Bg ordered?
