I was beyond excited to see this pop up on Dans after YEARS of waiting. And everything was going fine until about 3 weeks in.
At first the issue was thought to be just a bad batch of springs and my conclusion after lurking the www and seeing ings from Shane Weston himself. I contacted Eclat and Dans. Dans was very quick with the response and after a 5 minute phone conversation with a employee who is also riding one I had 2 replacement springs on the way free of charge. Riding the backup spring that was included with the hub and only a dozen times since first contact i didn't really feel or hear much from the hub.
Then Finally today I received a email from Éclat.

Hi!
Sorry for the late reply. By the sounds of it you need new pawls and a
spring. We had a small faulty batch of springs on the first hubs, When
the
spring broke the pawls will have become sharp and broken the replacement
springs.
Please contact the shop where you purchased the hub and they will be
able
to get you these parts free of charge.
Can you please send me a photo of the pawls and the spring, that would
really help.
Thanks!

So I did.
Once I got home I took wheel, easily slid axle and driver out and had a feeling I knew what I was gonna see.

Called back up Dans. New Pawls are "in transit" a week away from them so another 4 days from me.
But. Besides this shit. Love the hub!!!!!!!
-
They are some terrible, terrible photos.
-
Realizing that now haha. Didn't seem that bad on phone but once I went to the pad... I will fix. Gotta get off the shitbox
-
Is that a nipple? I cant see shit
-
Photubuck is down for some reason so idk when
-
Silly you, expecting a freecoaster that doesn't blow up.
-
How is that blowing up? Dumdums made the Pawls sharp on production models. The fix is already underway. All I'm gonna do is grab a file for time being
-
Fixed pics. Little better
-
What I meant was it actually functioning. On a serious note, my friend has the Blind coaster and it also shit the bed quite quickly. At least Eclat helped you out, they just told him they've never heard of the problem.

My local shop got it in stock and on the Envy. The guy working there is Another, like me, FC geek. We both concluded that the drag and noise from the hub is bad, very bad, when backpedalling. I thus decided against it.
Is your example okay?

Cool, hopefully he can appreciate me informing others with pictures and know I'm not bad mouthing Eclat in anyway. still being positive about a product I will continue to ride after the fix. Not a lot of quality information on the Internet about it. So I'm providing something else other than the fuck a fuck you fuck this fuck that fuck responce on Ing and facebook
-
I have one of the first batches, too. I didn't have any problems at all though.
-
Eclat never posted the how to work on the hub. Maybe they'll get that released in a couple years

Oh definitely I wasn't saying it in a bad way, it's one of the best things about BikeGuide (unless you're shadow conspiracy).

Haha, I definitely like The Merged a lot, but it certainly got very WeMakeThings-friendly towards the end of Dave's tenure. It was obvious that there was some bias taking place so it was nice to see him be big enough to hand it off.
-
Not sure if I would call it bias, just being waaay more careful of what to say, which in some cases is good, but it Went over the top on some other.
Still love the concept of the site, would just enjoy if they could post more stuff, not just the new frame of the week from the "standard" bmx companies.
-
porn would be cool
-
At least hes stepped down since his job is a part of the industry now.
-
the merged was cool for product insights, but deffos should have been more salty. no harm in bmx having a few more people willing to ruffle some feathers, and keep the taiwan catalogue browsers in check

if they were to start doing that they would run out of companies willing to send them stuff really quickly.
-
The Merged should start seeing more frequent posts. Mariano and Yakob have taken over and Dave has stepped aside to focus on his role with WTP, Eclat, etc.. Stoked for Dave and stoked to see what these guys can cook up!

Discovered my compression cone(drive side) is cracked at 12 and 6. Grub screw being 3 o'clock. Sure glad my reloaders is the exact same size as I have 2. Replacement pawls shipped tonight. I'll follow up. I can't quit you jack.

WTF?!?!?! MINE DID TOO YESTERDAY! A new one is on the way to me by the german distribution.. So how good does the Reloader one fit, width wise?
-
I wish terre could narrate my life.
-
The reloader drive side is only thicker if you mic it and that's barely. Fits perfectly in my opinion and now I trust it. Well, atleast that part of the hub. Who knows what's gonna happen next. First Eclat product I've bought and probably the last now. I'll keep the hub but after 4 years of testing this shut should have been all figured out. I was told by Eclat early this morning it must have been "Over heat treated".
-
Damn I was just about to call dans up and order one of these. Glad I checked here first. Guess I'll keep waiting
