i watched this film the other night on netflix (oh thank you netflix for coming back into my life) and it was fucking awesome
so in true netflix fashion but with a BG twist, because i liked that:
-
i saw it a little while ago also and thought about making a thread about it. It's damn good.
-
On a slightly less intelligent and intellectual note, there is a new Tina Fey show on netflix, Unbreakable. I liked it.
-
Great doc, definitely wasn't expecting it to get as dark as it did.
There was another doc on Netflix a while ago called Dragonslayer, which was weird because it was about a skater that used to harass the bike riders at our local park.
-
If you've never heard the tale of Gator (aka Mark Rogowski) you should check that shit out too
-
I saw this Australian clay-mation movie called Max and Mary that I was really into. Who is Harry Nilsson was a good one too.

i fucking love 'max and mary,' one of the best!
but totally off topic dude

Was that the one about the brothers from Australia?
-
Zoid I dunno what docos there are out there about Gator, as I read about it in the early 90's. But it is def. worth a Google, trust me on that. The original skater tragedy

Yep

I remember watching it in 2004. Feel like it was just called Gator.

aces, thanks for the link, i watched this today and was not expecting the darkness!
don't get me wrong, these films are tragedies of greek proportions but you can't deny that they are absolutely fascinating.
maybe it's because they're real or maybe because of the boundaries they pushed or the extremes they go to or just how hard hitting they are.
-
I wasn't expecting that to end in such a sad note.
-
That Gator flick was intense. It linked me to this about short bio about Rodney Mullen.

Love eccentric folks.
-
nice, i'll give that mullen one a go later today
also, i'll put this in the mix too, 'the men who jump off buildings' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RAMGZY4W4b0
i saw it a while ago and only remembered it last night, it's about two particular base jumpers

Waiting for Lightning is documentary about Danny Way the vert skateboarder. It's set on the background of his jump across the Great Wall of China but it goes in depth to his character and background. Definitely well made and really cool watch.

I watched it with my girlfriend. There's definitely worse shows out there, but it was a bit weak after watching Fargo.
-
Love eccentric folks.
I'd highly recommend "The Jinx" by HBO.

I read the synopsis. I hate watching documentaries on really messed up things. Like reddit always brings up Dear Zachary and I haven't gotten around to watching it cause shit like that makes me super bummed.
-
Yeah, The Jinx is superb. I'd avoid Dear Zachary, definitely a tearjerker.
-
Related to all this mayhem. ...the bones brigade documentary is really good.

Oh yea! I caught that recently after watching anything Rodney Mullen is involved with. Rodney is like one of the sweetest dudes in extreme sports.
