Concerning a SKS, is there an easy way to make it full auto? It's currently semi only...

Yes. It's stupidly illegal, I don't know the exact specifics since I've never done it.

They were designed as semi automatic rifles, I'm sure it could be done but the gun wasn't designed for it so I'm not sure how the rifle as a whole would hold up.  Also in the states you need a special FFL license to make your own FA weapons legally.

Wheelr is that ulyanovsk white box x39 ammo?

Ulyanovsk you say?  I still have ~180 rounds of that left... great ammo.  I need to find some more before I burn up what I have left.

Ffffffffuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhh..........

EDIT: Except for the lights on the last two M14's... CQB with a 12lb rifle?  I think not.  LOL

I'll check out the website, are they knives they sell at army surplus stores any good? They have a big selection but I'd rather have something nice that will last

Surplus stores usually sell off brand crap knives. Get something from a respected brand: kershaw, gerber, SOG, spyderco, benchmade...

For me personally...

What do you guys shoot with all these guns?
Targets, and I am pretty liberal with the definition of "target" as long as it's safe to shoot.  Paper targets, steel plates, wood targets... the list is endless.

Have you used them to go hunting?
Used to hunt, not anymore.  An AR or AK makes a shitty hunting rifle, you can't beat a good bolt-action rifle for hunting.

Do you only shoot them at a firing range because youre afraid of shooting someone?
Ranges can be more dangerous depending on where you go.  I go a ways out in the woods and find a safe backstop (big dirt berm, rock quarry, etc) to catch the bullets

Are you paranoid and wish to have a shitload of guns at all times to feel safe?
Just being prepared.  In my civilian life I'll most likely never need to use a gun in a defense situation, but if I ever need one I know I'll be fine.

Thanks.
Thanks for asking real questions, most of us are more than happy to share knowledge and real information about owning and using firearms.

Desert Eagles are pointless.  They are ridiculously heavy, ridiculously huge and expensive to shoot.

1911's are still one of the best designs for a pistol.  Like Farva said... you can't go wrong with Colt, Springfield, or Kimber.

I get russian steel by the crate and yugo brass on stripper clips by the crate.  Real cheap and something like 1200 rounds for $169 delivered.

The yugo on strips is ideal for the SKS because you just grab a strip and load.

I get Herters/wolf/brown bear from cabelas for 1.99/20.  When I want to shoot a lot and plan on detail cleaning the gun, I shoot corrosive.  When I just shoot a little and plan on running a snake and calling it a day, I shoot wolf/non corrosive.

Don't buy brass unless you are shooting to find the most accurate stuff or hunting.

The U.S. made ammo for x39 is under loaded, just like EVERY US made ammunition.

The old yugo is the best IMO.

SKS are awesome.  Try to get a Russian or Yugo (without grenade launcher gas system thing)

-strippper clips are fast
-it will be more accurate than you, unless you were secretly on top shot
-easy to clean/maintain.

I don't like shooting corrosive ammo on guns with gas tubes/pistons but corrosive and non corrosive can be found real cheap.

I have a yugo m59/66a1 (with the grenade launcher) and it's been great to me... But now we're getting into specifics.

I hate when sks are all done up, just doesnt look right.
Can you but "Matchgrade" trigger groups for an sks?
How accurate is it really, I want a pretty accurate gun.

Birdmane you will definitely be happy with it.

Each different make of sks is slightly different... Some have decent triggers, some have absolute shit triggers. I like the yugo's and the soviets, *some* norincos are decent too. Even then, each individual gun is different so you'll just have to feel them out. Machining in the 70's in soviet bloc countries wasn't as consistant as modern machining.

With decent ammo and using iron sights you should be able to hit 3-4 moa easily if you know what you're doing.

They'll never have a "match grade" trigger but no assault rifle should ever have a light, short trigger. That's not the point of the rifle.

Sks are really that fun huh? Maybe I will grab one soon then.
Can't beat a $300 semi auto rifle I guess.

Hell yeah, just leave the gun stock too.  No Tapco shit, no detachable mags.  Get some stripper clips and once you learn how to use them they are decently quick to reload the rifle. Maybe do some trigger work to clean up the feel of the pull.

And if you order some 7.62x39 online and you can find it for under 20 cents/round.

I was thinking of picking up an sks before I pick up an AR but I figure I won't really enjoy it. After the AR im planning to pick up a high power bolt action. I would really like a sako but i don't know about the money. Prolly grab some sort of r700, .308, 7mm mag? I don't know.

I got bored of AR's and my sks is a hell if a lot of fun... Pick up a yugo sks and it'll be the cheapest fun gun you own.
