Brake pads?

<< < (2/2)

Bunky:
I really like the black Fly pads.  Not too sticky, so you can feather them a little bit, but they're still good at gripping when you need a hard hold for fuf's and abubacas.

I'm glad to see brakes are making a comeback.

master:
On my usual chrome rim, Salmon Kool Stops all the way (any of the aluminum models with replaceable pad inserts).

For painted rims you almost need clear pads (Ody, Fly, etc) to get enough bite to really lock the wheel up.

I always run my pads with no toe, flat to the rim. Makes them feel better IMO.

Stoked:
Kool stops or fly pads black or red

WoBBLE:
I just put a set of Odyssey Clear by 4's on the front and they seem pretty good so far (as long as my rim is clean but I think that's a separate issue I have).

Prior to that I've ran 'disco' pads for the last 10 years or so, they last a long time and I still run those on my rear brake. I've only been able to find those on eBay recently though.

weedbix:
Front brakes are always harder to get to lock. Clear on clean chrome is about the best you can do for locking without going hydro or using tar on your rims (which shreds pads like crazy)

Brakeless or shit mechanic dudes always wanted to ride my bike with fronts and then would complain when trying to use the brake alone for ends or nosepicks (the trick is to shift your weight as well...)
