Loose BB shell

(1/2) > >>

Jasssu:
I have been riding my Verde Oxbridge for about a year or so. I was changing my cranks the other day and noticed that the mid bb bearings can be pulled out by hand. I think that the bb shell might be deformed. Could I fix this problem by glueing the bearings back in or is it time to get a new frame?

Narcoleptic Insomniac:
Depends how easy it is to pull out the bearings. If it takes some force they're probably fine but if they're floating in the shell and easily move up and down then you may have a problem. If the cranks spin freely without any play then I wouldn't worry about it.

Stoked:
You lost me at glue back in

The bearings in my frame are quite loose--I can push them out by hand. Haven't had any issues and they don't wobble or make weird noises. If they aren't super tight it's not a big deal unless they are moving in there. If they are actually loose enough to move, they'll start to wear and ovalize the shell.

dude...:
could crack some araldite or plumbers tape in there with them i guess. not really a fix though. chances are if the bb is already started deforming, it will get worse over time. depends how bad it is atm and whether its an issue for you or not. deffos something to be aware of though, if it starts to develop significant play, i would think about getting a new frame
