Fixing removable brake hardware

<< < (2/3) > >>

master:
Came in to recommend a helicoil as well if the threads are pulled out completely.

Is this a cable guide (just holds the housing in place) or the cable stop (end of the housing and takes the braking force)?

JFax:
Cable stop.

Dr. Steve Brule:
Surely the tube won't be thick enough to helicoil. I stand by pop rivet.

master:
At least on FBM made frames, the stop threads into a welded-in insert that has ~5-6mm of thread. That may be enough for a small helicoil.

JFax:
Ive seen some good rivert uses in my day. If it can be done that is provably the way forward. I have no idea how to do it though. Prob ask at the bike shop. Thanks guys!
