Odyssey Race Linear cable

(1/2) > >>

master:
Has anyone ran one of the newer "Race Linear" cables? I've been asking around but I can't seem to find any real reviews or opinions about it, other than that it's lighter due to Aluminum strands in the housing. I bugged G but he runs Quik Slics, and the guy at Full Factory had no idea.

I'm curious about stiffness (lever feel) and any potential tradeoffs with the lighter housing.

milhous:
It flexes* a lot compared to a normal linear cable.

*Notsure if "flex" is the right word to use, but lever feel went from solid/stiff (regular linear) to spongey (race linear). There were no other changes made to the brakes other than swapping cables, and both were properly stretched after installation.

The weight savings is marginal so I went back to a regular Odyssey Linear.

master:
Thank you so much for that, I think everyone that I talked to has been hesitant to say anything negative about the Race Linear.

I HATE HATE HATE a spongy lever so I'll go with the SLS Linear.

acm:
Put one on and it was really spongy, so I swapped it out immediately. Not a solid choice if you want solid lever feel.

Thanks man, SLS Linear it is! I imagine on a race bike with V brakes the spongy feel would be acceptable but not for me.
