has anyone given plastics a decent run? which brand holds up?

You should consider the éclat Venom pegs. They are 36mm in diameter and come in 4.5" length. I heard the plastic the sleeves are made of are pretty long lasting, too.

took me half a year to get back to MTL and pick up your box but i did - thanks again! the stem is great and stickers are so so dope. cant wait to run that hubguard.

edit: bah, eclat site says 38mm.
but it's so so dialed if it hits flush tho :(
i bet cult/fed will come out with a long version soon enough.
looks like fly came out with a slim 35mm peg too. only 100mm tho.
