Austin Tasseltine:
yeah i remember you saying that. thats the only real improvement to this coaster over existing models, being able to run a thinner locknut and spacer and an fbm style guard without having to space your back end out more.
thats not why they designed it like that though, its just chance that occured because colony have a stupid obsession with having threaded hubguards on their hubs.

another shemale axle option is good as well, because stranger (well rich hirsch) havent got a great record with regards to actually getting their products out there and making them available. it still baffles me why khe never released a femaled version of their coasters like 5 years ago when everyone wanted to be ian scwartz, but yeah, now they are finally becoming available so thats good-more options and stuff.

with coasters getting a bit more popular again id like to see companies offering all the aftermarket spares as well, because these style hubs are far from perfect and need maintaining

I beg to differ. When the first prototype was made, this is exactly what was done.
Here it is with a push on guard and correct wheel spacing.

I do agree that screw on guards aren't ideal for heavy grinding, however the vast majority of riders aren't that heavy on them.

Austin Tasseltine:
The zodiac version is better, but i couldnt find the pic of the other side where you can see how the cone nut is recessed into the guard

Hairfarmer:
I'm still running the prototype Alone hub guards and after 7 years use, they are fine.

Spev:

The Zodiac guard is awesome if you have a KHE style axle with a threadless shoulder. However I can see limiting access to the lock nut. It's still only a small compromise though.
My point is focussed on the colony hub and the fact the accommodation of any traditional hub guard (even the Zodiac) was considered during the design proccess.
