Quick Questions
attactrl:
I did it for a while. I broke a couple bolts(tightening them every time), and the center axle eventually.
Topsey:
Hmmm, well i only ride once or twice a week. Not super heavy on my pegs & i highly doubt i could break a blue6 bolt & if i did they'd be replaced for free. It is the center axle that im worried about. Ill give it a think, Cheers.
Edit: Wonder if Couch could make me custom axles for the madera hubs?
JohnW:
I'm sure he could. It's 17mm at the ends and 14mm in the center. 14mm thick aluminum is just not enough for pegs. The early Fly axles tapered to 15mm in the middle from 17 and they broke a lot. You've got 2 good options there. Chromoly axle the size of the stock one with 17mm outer and 14 or 15mm inner, or 17mm aluminum all the way through. I'd suggest 3/8x24 either way. With 17mm 7075 all the way through you'd have the axle strength of the Vandero 2.
Topsey:
Thats pretty much what i was thinking John, Then if its possible (which im sure it will be) Getting a 3/8ths to 14mm Axle adaptor on the hub & cog guards & running 3/8ths pegs in the rear.
JohnW:
Yeah, they're borderline in the front with the Race axle and pegs. I wouldn't even consider it in the rear.
You could have a Profile chromoly axle cut, drilled, and tapped for bolts. But with the price of the axle, it could even cost less to have one made out of 4130 stock.
