yeah just bowls for my bong. I just went out and got a drill bit but all the wood I have is too old and splits when I drill the holes.

Quick question - where does one buy nice hardwood stock like this?  I have a few projects in mind for when I move back to the states but have no idea where to buy material like this (that's not plywood).

Do you mean veneer or actual dimensioned hardwood?  I buy from Crosscut Hardwoods because they're local, they have decent prices and a great selection.  All of the veneer I've bought has come from Woodcraft as packs of about 12 sq. feet; they also carry dimensioned lumber.  I'm sure there's some place similar to Crosscut Hardwoods in your area...  Or, if you're looking for some really nice veneer check out Veneer Supplies.

If you're talking about 1/16" Canadian Maple veneer (which is what is most often used for skateboards) there are very few places that sell it and it tends to be fairly expensive.  Roarockit is one place I know of...
