My buddy wanted to try duracoating something so gave him my AR since I needed to coat the lower and am currently out of the country anyways.

Bolting on a few upgrades as well!

Really?  What's the overall upper length?  Yours looks substantially longer than mine - was thinking about getting an upper your length for my AR10 build.

I'm not at home to get an exact measurement, but that flash hider adds 1.7" so with the washers it's probably a hair over 16.2". I also think flat top rails have a tendency to make rifles appear longer in pictures.

Suddenly this all makes sense.  I'm working off the photos my buddy sends me as I'm in the UK and my AR is with him  -  bad photo perspective mixed with terrible memory.

Here was my AR immediately after I built it:



Length perpective is a little off haha.  My foregrip is substantially shorter.

On a related note: anyone know of places with .308/7.62 uppers in stock?  Ordered my 80% AR10 lower and jig plates from Tactical Machining - struggling to find anywhere with any parts on the shelf.

I spent all weekend shooting my old 22lr and I think I want to just jump in a get a solid bolt action rifle to learn some precision long range shooting.  I was wondering if I should just get a cheap sub $300 .308 rifle scope combo like the Savage axis xp and the Mossberg 100 atr, or if I should just shell out some more cash and go with a nice Remington 700 sps 24" with a Mueller tac 2 for around $850 that my local shop has?
