you can get 460 and 500's for that price but you have to be good at the wheel and deal..

i personally think that those guns are horrible... just like a tech 9

Now that I'm addicted to buying guns, I want a 1911.  Anything decent in the sub 900 dollar range?  Looking at Kimber, Smith, Springfield, and Ruger, even thought the SR1911 is really hard to get.  Any thoughts?

If major brand names (kimber, S&W, SA etc.) don't mean anything to you, I've heard really good things about Rock Island Armory and Metro Arms Corps. They can be had for $500 and less (depending on finish) and have a build quality to similar to name brand GI models

I've heard the same, that they are decent starter 1911's.

You can probably find a good deal on a Colt 1911 for $900 if you look around hard enough too.
