--- Quote from: Trail-BOSS;3277952 ---Luckily my hopes are pretty low and I'm not looking to do any thing EXCEPT have fun, I am not in the military nor am I a veteran. However, I do a lot of reading so when wheeler asked what my approximate range would be I responded with what I could remember as reasonable numbers.

Im not looking to compete or judge myself off of anyone else's shooting just better my own and have fun. Thanks for the advice I will look into some .223. Thanks mang!

do you own any guns yet?

if you dont own anything yet you shouldnt jump straight into a 308 round.

you should a get a 22  and learn the fundamentals and breathing and all that shit on that

--- Quote from: couch;3277947 ---Unless I'm mistaken .308 Win and 7.62x51 are only a few thou off but the Win has a higher PSI. You can shoot 7.62x51 out of a rifle thats designed for .308 without issue most of the time but shooting .308 out of a rifle designed for 7.62x51 can give you the wrong kind of BANG.

same this with a 556 barreled action. you can shoot 223 out of it.
but if your  barrel says 223 on it you cant shoot 556.

The difference is in the neck of the casing and the HP of the round itself.

A Remington 700 PPS is within your budget not including glass. And you'll have a few hundred left over.
